Overview

Comfort Hotel Kokura is about three minutes on foot from the Shinkansen Exit at Kokura Station. Its Asano-side location favors train travel and events at the nearby exhibition and convention venues. Downtown Kokura lies south of the tracks, so trips to its shops, market, and castle require crossing through or around the station complex.

The setup is simple. All 216 rooms are non-smoking, buffet breakfast is included, and the second-floor library cafe remains open until midnight. Expect a compact, service-focused stay rather than large rooms or extensive leisure facilities.

Rooms

Most of the rooms are Economy Doubles, with 185 in this category. Each measures 13 square meters and has a 140-centimeter-wide bed, a layout better suited to solo travelers or couples packing lightly. Standard Doubles provide slightly more floor space at 15 square meters.

At 20 square meters, Standard Twins give two guests more room and separate beds. The hotel also has one 26-square-meter Universal Room, which must be reserved by phone. Every room is non-smoking and includes a desk.

Facilities

The Comfort Library Cafe provides space to work, read, or plan the next day outside the guest room. Open from 10:00 AM to midnight, it has complimentary coffee and tea, charging points, Wi-Fi, and more than 100 books.

A 24-hour coin laundry helps with longer trips. Before check-in or after check-out, guests can leave luggage in the self-service storage area on the second floor.

Dining

The complimentary breakfast buffet is served in the library cafe from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The selection changes but generally covers bread, hot dishes, salads, and smoothies, while local yaki-udon adds a Kitakyushu touch.

There is no full-service restaurant for lunch or dinner. For more choice, cross to the south side of Kokura Station, where AMU Plaza and the downtown streets have restaurants and cafes.

Location and transport

The hotel is in Kokura Station Area, near the station's north-side Shinkansen Exit. Kokura serves the Sanyo Shinkansen, regional JR lines, the Kitakyushu Monorail, local buses, and airport coaches. Hakata is a short Shinkansen trip away, while local JR trains put Mojiko's historic waterfront within easy day-trip range.

The West Japan General Exhibition Center and Kitakyushu International Conference Center are in the same Asano district. Across the tracks to the south are AMU Plaza, covered shopping arcades, Tanga Market, and Kokura Castle.

Airport access

Direct buses connect Kitakyushu Airport with the Kokura Station area. They don't stop at the hotel, and boarding points can vary by service, so check the current timetable and stop before traveling.

From Fukuoka Airport, take the subway to Hakata Station and transfer to the Shinkansen for Kokura. That adds a step, but the final walk from Kokura Station is short.

Why stay here

An early Shinkansen departure, a meeting in Asano, or a one-night stop between longer journeys all benefit from the location. Breakfast is already covered, and the library cafe gives guests welcome shared space when a compact room feels limiting.

Most dining and sightseeing are across the station to the south, while the convention venues are nearby. That layout works best when rail and Asano access matter more than having downtown outside the door.

Good to know

The hotel isn't directly connected to Kokura Station, so the last few minutes are outdoors. Its 21 paid parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with nearby public parking as the fallback when they fill.
