Overview
A three-minute outdoor walk separates Hotel Amanek Asahikawa from the North Exit of Asahikawa Station. Direct airport buses, Asahiyama Zoo departures, and Furano Line trains are close by, easing early starts and luggage-heavy arrivals.
After a day out, the top-floor public baths offer the soak that most guest rooms don't. In clear weather, views may extend toward the Tokachi mountain range.
Rooms
Six room types range from a 15-square-metre double to a 30-square-metre deluxe triple. Most doubles and twins measure between 15 and 19 square metres, so the under-bed storage matters, especially with bulky winter luggage. All rooms are non-smoking.
Groups of three can choose a 23-square-metre room with three single beds or the larger deluxe triple, which has two beds plus an extra bed. The accessible twin provides wider doors and a barrier-free bathroom. Standard rooms generally have shower booths rather than bathtubs.
Facilities
The public baths open from 15:00 to 1:00 and again from 5:00 to 9:00. The schedule covers late returns and early starts, though the baths aren't available throughout the night.
Paid coin laundry is on the same floor, and luggage storage is available. They can help on longer Hokkaido trips or after days spent outdoors.
Dining
Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10:00 in the third-floor lounge, with last orders at 9:30. The Japanese and Western buffet has roughly 50 items, including Asahikawa ramen, pork bowls, and a seafood-bowl station.
There is no full lunch or dinner service. Restaurants and shops continue north from the station along Heiwa-dori Kaimono Koen.
Location and transport
Limited express trains connect Asahikawa with Sapporo in about 1 hour 25 minutes. The Furano Line runs south through Biei toward Furano, but regional trains don't operate with big-city frequency. Check the timetable before planning a day around them.
Buses for Asahiyama Zoo depart from stop 6 at Asahikawa Station, with journeys taking roughly 35 to 50 minutes depending on the service. The zoo is not nearby. The advantage is having its departure stop a short walk from the hotel.
Airport access
Direct buses between Asahikawa Airport and Asahikawa Station take about 30 to 40 minutes. This is a station service rather than a hotel shuttle, and the final walk from the North Exit is outdoors.
Airport buses are timed around flights, but traffic and winter weather can affect the journey. Leave a sensible margin before departure.
Why stay here
The short station walk reduces the effort of catching an early train, connecting with an airport bus, or setting out for the zoo. Breakfast begins at 6:30, and the public baths offer somewhere to unwind on your return. Compact rooms and the uncovered station route are the main compromises.
The hotel is on the shopping side of the Asahikawa Station Area. Heiwa-dori Kaimono Koen runs north from the station as a one-kilometre pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants. South of the concourse, Kitasaito Garden follows the Chubetsu River with planted paths and open views.
Good to know
The hotel isn't directly connected to Asahikawa Station, so snow and rolling luggage can slow the three-minute walk. Drivers can use the adjacent partner car park, which has a third-floor link to the hotel and currently charges JPY 1,000 per 24 hours.
