Overview
Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East opens directly onto Sendai Station's east-west passage through its second-floor entrance. The Shinkansen, JR local trains, and Sendai Airport Access Line can all be reached without crossing a street. You don't need to step outside. That matters after a late arrival, before an early train, or whenever luggage makes another transfer unwelcome.
The hotel faces Miyagino-dori on the station's east side and shares the wider complex with S-PAL East, so shops, restaurants, and regional souvenirs are close at hand. Central Sendai's west-side bus stands and shopping streets are across the station, connected by the same passage.
Rooms
All 282 rooms are non-smoking, and every category has a bathroom separated from the toilet. The lineup begins with the 21-square-metre Wide Single, followed by the 23-square-metre Superior Double and 24-square-metre Compact Twin. These smaller rooms give solo guests and couples more comfort than the station location alone might suggest.
Larger choices range from 34-square-metre king and twin layouts to the 49-square-metre Grand Deluxe Twin. Selected twin rooms accommodate three or four guests, while the 47-square-metre Universal Twin has configurations for two or three people. At 91 square metres, the Premier Suite is the largest option.
Facilities
Facing Miyagino-dori, the guest lounge is open from 5:00 to 20:00. Self-serve drinks and power sockets make it a convenient place to plan the day, catch up on work, or relax outside the room.
The small gym has treadmills and exercise bikes and remains open until 23:00. Paid parking is available in the adjacent S-PAL Sendai East Exit car park, although spaces can't be reserved.
Dining
Forest Kitchen with Outdoor Living is the hotel's only restaurant, with service throughout the day. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 10:00, followed by lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner from 17:30 to 22:00.
The breakfast and lunch buffets each feature about 60 dishes, including seasonal produce from Miyagi and the wider Tohoku region. Counter seats suit solo diners, while booths and private rooms accommodate groups.
Location and transport
From the second-floor JR East Exit, follow the east-west passage to the hotel entrance on the same level. The entire route is indoors. This places the hotel on the east side of the Sendai Station Area, beside Miyagino-dori and S-PAL East.
Sendai Station serves the Tohoku, Akita, and Hokkaido Shinkansen, along with regional JR trains and the Sendai Airport Access Line. Subway and city bus connections cover local trips from the same district. If your itinerary includes several train days, the east-side entrance removes the need for a separate approach to the station each morning.
Airport access
The Sendai Airport Access Line runs directly between Sendai Airport and Sendai Station in about 25 minutes, without a transfer. Trains normally operate two or three times per hour, and the indoor passage keeps the final walk out of the weather.
Check the current timetable for very early or late flights. The hotel doesn't operate an airport shuttle, but the public transport journey requires only one direct train.
Why stay here
An early Shinkansen or airport train is easier when the route to the station begins indoors. Separate bathrooms, a lounge open from 5:00, and breakfast from 6:30 support the hours before and after travel. The tradeoff is straightforward: if most of your plans are west of the station, you'll cross the east-west passage each day.
Good to know
Don't confuse Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East with Hotel Metropolitan Sendai, which is beside the west exit. For this hotel, follow signs for the east exit, the east-west passage, and S-PAL East.
