Overview
Hotel Showmeikan goes beyond the basics of a station-side stay. A public bath, breakfast built around local ingredients, and top-floor Japanese-Western rooms for up to five guests give travelers more choice than a typical business hotel.
The South Exit of Mishima Station is two minutes away, so Shinkansen arrivals and Sunzu Line day trips are easy to manage. The current hotel reopened in 2017, continuing the name of an inn founded in 1933. Mishima motifs appear on the yukata and room textiles.
Rooms
The hotel has 127 rooms. Singles and doubles measure 15 square metres, while twins and low-bed Japanese-modern rooms provide 21 square metres. Wide twins add a sofa bed for a third guest, and the top-floor Japanese-Western layouts combine beds and futons for groups of four or five.
The largest Deluxe Japanese-Western rooms measure 36 to 45 square metres and have separate bath and toilet rooms. A 27-square-metre accessible twin includes a step-free bathroom, handrails, and a shower chair, but it must be reserved by phone. Smoking rooms are limited to selected double, wide-twin, and Japanese-modern categories, so check the full room label before booking.
Facilities
The second-floor public bath is open to men and women from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, then from 5:00 to 9:00 AM. Women collect a key from the front desk, and guests bring towels from their rooms. The bath closes between sessions.
The front desk is staffed around the clock, and luggage can be held on the day of arrival or departure. A 24-hour coin laundry, microwave, water dispenser, and ice machine cover everyday needs during longer stays. Parking is paid and available by reservation only; when the hotel spaces are full, guests are directed to nearby public parking.
Dining
Breakfast is served at Heartful Dining On France from 6:30 to 9:30 AM, with last entry at 9:00. The buffet combines Japanese and Western dishes, using local ingredients such as vegetables from the western foot of Hakone, shirasu from Numazu, and eggs from Mishima.
The restaurant opens separately for lunch and dinner, preparing French dishes with ingredients from Mishima and the wider Izu area. Evening meals for hotel guests require advance contact. Lunch and dinner are normally unavailable on Sundays and Mondays.
Location and transport
The two-minute route from Mishima Station's South Exit passes the station bus stands before crossing the main road. It's a short, street-level walk rather than a direct indoor connection.
Mishima Station serves the Tokaido Shinkansen and Tokaido Main Line, with the Sunzu Line adjoining the JR station. Hikari and Kodama trains provide Shinkansen service, while the Sunzu Line runs south toward Izu-Nagaoka and Shuzenji. Nozomi trains don't stop here.
The wider Mishima Station Area extends south toward Rakujuen, restaurants, and the city's central streets. Staying on this side of the tracks keeps both the railway and the start of Mishima's spring-water walks close.
Why stay here
A two-minute station walk takes pressure off early departures and luggage-heavy arrivals. The public bath and larger Japanese-Western rooms also give families and small groups alternatives to compact doubles. The tradeoff is straightforward: parking requires a reservation, and some room categories permit smoking.
The South Exit side places Mishima's spring-water route within reach. Rakujuen, the Genbe River, and Mishima Taisha form a compact walk that can turn a rail stop into an afternoon in the city.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and checkout is by 10:00 AM. The public bath isn't open continuously, and breakfast guests must enter by 9:00 AM.
