Overview
A seasonal outdoor pool gives Hyatt Regency Naha, Okinawa a different feel from many central Naha hotels. Located in Sakurazaka, it's three minutes from Kokusai Street, one minute from Tsuboya Yachimun Street, and about eight minutes from Makishi Station.
This is a full-service city stay, not a beach resort. Its 294 rooms, varied dining, fitness centre, and Regency Club provide more facilities than a compact business hotel, while central Naha's markets and nightlife remain within walking distance.
Rooms
Twin rooms dominate the published room list. Standard Twins measure 28 square metres, while Deluxe Twins offer 32 square metres and can accommodate up to three guests with an extra bed. Both categories have a work area, Wi-Fi, and a Japanese-style bathroom.
Club Twin and Club Deluxe Twin rooms have the same two sizes on higher floors, along with access to the 18th-floor Regency Club. The 56-square-metre Regency Suites add a separate living room, while Executive Suites expand the layout to 64 square metres. Club and suite guests receive lounge breakfast, refreshments, evening cocktails, and dedicated check-in and checkout.
There are options for business trips, couples, and families, but the category names matter. If you need three beds, book the specific Deluxe category with an extra bed rather than assuming every twin room accepts a third guest.
Facilities
The pool deck has a 15-metre outdoor swimming pool, a shallow children's pool, and a heated jet bath. The main pool operates from March 1 through November 30, so winter stays don't include swimming, although the jet bath remains open throughout the year.
The guest-only fitness centre opens daily and admits guests aged 16 or older. Panoramic views across Naha are reserved for Club Room and suite guests using the Regency Club on the 18th floor. Lounge access is a room-category benefit, not a standard facility for every guest.
Dining
Sakurazaka serves a guest-only breakfast buffet featuring Okinawan ingredients, Japanese dishes, international choices, and a live kitchen. Depending on the day, it also opens for lunch or brunch.
Milano | Grill serves Italian dinners on the 18th floor beside a bar with city night views and scheduled live piano performances. Downstairs, the lobby lounge provides drinks and light meals indoors or on a garden terrace. Dining in is easy, but Kokusai Street and the market area offer plenty of alternatives nearby.
Location and transport
The Sakurazaka location is just south of Naha-Kokusai Dori. Tsuboya Yachimun Street is about one minute away, First Makishi Public Market about four minutes away, and Kokusai Street about three minutes away.
Makishi Station is roughly eight minutes away on foot. Yui Rail runs west through central Naha to the airport and east toward Shuri and Tedako-Uranishi. There's no direct station connection, so the outdoor walk may feel longer with luggage in hot or rainy weather.
Airport access
Yui Rail travels from Makishi Station to Naha Airport in 16 minutes without a transfer. Once the walk to the station is included, the journey remains straightforward but isn't a hotel-door service.
The hotel estimates about 20 minutes by taxi or car and doesn't operate an airport shuttle. Traffic can change that estimate, so the monorail may be more predictable at busy times.
Why stay here
The pool, full-service dining, and club-level rooms add substance to a central Naha stay. There is more room and a broader range of on-site facilities than at many business hotels, while Kokusai Street and Makishi Public Market remain a short walk away.
The neighborhood contributes more than shopping. Tsuboya Yachimun Street is a limestone-paved pottery district where workshops and shops sustain Okinawa's ceramic tradition. Cafes and the municipal pottery museum add reasons to linger, all within an easy walk of the hotel.
The tradeoff is clear. This is a city hotel with a seasonal outdoor pool, not a beachfront resort, and Makishi Station still requires an eight-minute outdoor walk. Reaching beaches or northern Okinawa will require buses, taxis, or a car.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and checkout is by 11:00 AM. Tower parking is available on a first-come basis; oversized vehicles and cars arriving after it fills must use a nearby paid lot.
The outdoor pool closes from December through February. On Sundays, part of Kokusai Street becomes pedestrian-only from noon to 6:00 PM, which can affect taxi and car approaches even though Yui Rail continues to operate.
