Overview
Following a full renovation, Mitsui Garden Hotel Okayama reopened on August 9, 2026, with 297 redesigned rooms, including 51 that accommodate three guests. It's about two minutes from Okayama Station near the Korakuen Exit, with AEON Mall Okayama directly across the street.
This location simplifies early Shinkansen departures and days built around regional trains. The final approach is outdoors, and the hotel isn't directly connected to the rail complex.
Rooms
The renovation reduced the room count from 352 to 297 by combining selected rooms, while increasing the number of three-person layouts from 8 to 51. Every room is non-smoking, with renewed interiors, furniture, equipment, and bathroom fixtures.
Standard Doubles are the most compact option at 14.2 square meters. Standard Queens provide a wider bed within 17.1 square meters, while Standard Twins have two beds and 20 square meters of space. Superior Twins measure 26.4 to 28.4 square meters and add a sofa bed for a third guest. If you're traveling with family or friends, compare that larger category first.
Facilities
The guest-only Garden Bath on the 10th floor stays open overnight, operating from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 the following morning. The renovation increased the washing stations from six to nine in both bath areas, and the women's changing area now has more room and a dedicated powder space.
Six coin-operated laundry machines are available on the second floor, twice the previous number. They can lighten the packing load on a multi-night rail trip, especially when you'd rather wash clothes at the hotel than carry a larger bag between cities.
Dining
GARDEN CAFE serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet from 6:30 to 10:00, with last entry at 9:30. Daily meat dishes and bread baked in-house appear alongside Okayama specialties such as ebi-meshi and mamakari.
After breakfast, the first-floor space becomes a guest lounge from 1:00 to 10:00 p.m. Complimentary drinks and snacks are available, along with Wi-Fi and selected seats equipped with power strips. It's a comfortable spot to wait, plan the next outing, or work outside the room.
Location and transport
The hotel is on the east side of the Okayama Station Area, close to the Korakuen Exit. Okayama Station serves the Sanyo Shinkansen, while local JR trains put Kurashiki within easy reach for a day trip. The Marine Liner runs south to Takamatsu, and Limited Express Yakumo services travel north toward Matsue and Izumo.
Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden are farther east. Reaching them normally requires a tram, bus, taxi, or longer walk, so the location favors rail connections and station-side shopping over having the city's historic sights outside the door.
Airport access
Limousine buses from Okayama Momotaro Airport arrive at Okayama Station's West Exit, with the journey taking around 40 minutes. Since the hotel is on the opposite side of the rail complex, allow extra time to cross the concourse with luggage after leaving the bus.
Why stay here
The two-minute station walk keeps short stays and regional rail trips straightforward, while 51 rooms that sleep three, the overnight bath, and the guest lounge add flexibility. The outdoor approach and cross-station transfer from the airport bus are the main tradeoffs.
AEON Mall provides shopping and later meals directly across the street. Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden require a short local journey, but staying near the station keeps trains for Kurashiki, Takamatsu, and the Sanin region close for day trips or onward travel.
