Overview
A passage from the South Exit of Niigata Station connects directly to Art Hotel Niigata Station inside Plaka 1. Reception, Iroha restaurant, and the meeting rooms are on the fourth floor, with guest rooms on floors five through twelve.
The passage reduces outdoor walking with luggage. Shinkansen platforms, local JR services, and the station bus terminal are within the same complex. All guest rooms, Iroha, and the meeting rooms were renovated in 2025.
Rooms
The hotel has 304 rooms. Superior Singles measure 13 square metres, Superior Doubles 14, and Superior Twins 18. Deluxe Twins and the Universal Double measure 24 square metres, while the 41.8-square-metre Deluxe Triple accommodates three or four guests.
Most rooms are singles, doubles, or twins. The larger layouts are limited, so groups should compare room types early. The 2025 renovation replaced wall coverings and carpets, refreshed bathroom walls, and added a safe and new chair to every room.
Facilities
The fifth floor has a coin laundry with three washers and three dryers, plus a shared microwave. Each guest floor has vending machines; ice machines are on the fifth, seventh, and eleventh floors. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
Six meeting and banquet rooms accommodate conferences, training sessions, and group events. The largest theatre-style arrangement holds up to 600 people.
Dining
Iroha serves more than 60 breakfast items from 6:30 to 10:00. The buffet includes two varieties of Niigata rice, regional dishes, seasonal menus, and local sake.
Iroha also serves lunch and dinner. CoCoLo Niigata provides more restaurants and cafes inside the station.
Location and transport
Art Hotel Niigata Station is on the south side of the Niigata Station Area. The Joetsu Shinkansen runs directly to Tokyo, while the Shinetsu Main, Echigo, and Hakushin lines serve regional trains within Niigata Prefecture.
Guests reach CoCoLo's shops and restaurants through the station. Bandai Bridge, Bandai, and Furumachi are across the tracks, so reaching central Niigata requires crossing the concourse and continuing on foot or by bus.
Airport access
Direct limousine buses take about 25 minutes between Niigata Airport and Niigata Station. They stop at the station, not the hotel door. From the bus terminal, follow station signs to the South Exit and Plaka 1.
Traffic and winter weather can extend the journey. Check the current timetable before an early flight.
Why stay here
The South Exit passage reduces outdoor walking before an early Shinkansen, after a late train arrival, or during an airport-bus transfer. Breakfast starts at 6:30 for travelers leaving early.
For sightseeing, cross toward the Bandai Exit for routes to Bandai Bridge and Furumachi. Local buses continue to the riverfront, Toki Messe, and the port.
Good to know
Reception is on the fourth floor, not at street level. Check-in begins at 15:00, and checkout is by 11:00. There is no public bath.
Drivers can use three paid affiliated parking lots. Spaces can't be reserved, and leaving and re-entering incurs additional charges.
