Overview

CANDEO HOTELS Kyoto Karasuma Rokkaku is a central Kyoto stay in Kyoto Shijo-Karasuma, about a 3-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station. It suits travelers who want easy subway connections, nearby downtown shopping and dining, and a setting with more local character than a typical station-area hotel.

The location is one subway stop north of Shijo and a direct ride from Kyoto Station. Its Rokkaku-dori setting also keeps the atmosphere on a smaller central street rather than beside the city's long-distance rail terminal.

Rooms

Rooms include Twin, King, Executive Twin, Executive King, Private Spa Twin, and Private Spa King categories. The private-spa rooms are the standout choice: the Private Spa Twin measures 34 square meters including a 6-square-meter open-air bath, while the Private Spa King measures 28 square meters including a 6-square-meter open-air bath.

Standard in-room features include Simmons beds, free Wi-Fi, Internet TV, refrigerators, room wear, and slippers, with a shower room, bath room, or open-air bath depending on the category. Choose a private-spa room if an in-room bath is a priority; otherwise, compare the Executive and standard categories for a comfortable stay in the center of Kyoto.

Facilities

The guest-only Skyspa is the hotel's main facility highlight, with indoor baths, open-air baths, and gender-separated sauna areas. The men's side has a dry sauna and cold-water bath, while the women's side has a mist sauna. The bath area is open from 3:00 PM to 11:00 AM the next day, with the saunas closed from 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM.

The hotel also incorporates a preserved and renovated Kyo-machiya as its lounge. The former Ban family residence has been reworked with a library area, a courtyard-side lounge bar, tatami seating, and complimentary coffee and tea in the library area.

Dining

Breakfast is a seasonal Kyoto obanzai bento served in the Kyo-machiya Lounge on the second floor. The bento features small Kyoto-style dishes made with seasonal ingredients, with examples including yuba and dashimaki.

Breakfast is served from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with last order at 9:30 AM. Because seating is limited, guests select a preferred time slot at check-in, and the bento can also be taken back to the room. The lounge bar serves paid drinks from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Location and transport

Karasuma Oike Station is the key rail connection. As an interchange for Kyoto's Karasuma and Tozai subway lines, it gives convenient access to Kyoto Station, Shijo, Nijojo-mae, Sanjo Keihan, and Higashiyama without needing to return to the main rail terminal for every trip.

From Karasuma Oike Station, use Exit 6, walk south along Karasuma-dori, then turn onto Rokkaku-dori for the final approach. Travelers arriving by Shinkansen or airport train should use Kyoto Station as the transfer point, then continue by subway or taxi.

Why stay here

Choose CANDEO HOTELS Kyoto Karasuma Rokkaku if you want central Kyoto subway access, a bath and sauna facility, a renovated machiya lounge, and a Kyoto-style breakfast in one place. It is especially well suited to travelers planning to get around Kyoto by subway while keeping Shijo-Karasuma and downtown Kyoto close at hand.

The tradeoff is arrival logistics. This is not a Kyoto Station hotel and is not designed around car access, so travelers with heavy first-night luggage, early train departures, or tight airport-rail timing may find the main rail hub simpler.

Good to know

Plan to arrive by public transport. The hotel has no on-site bicycle parking, stopping or loading by car in front of the property is restricted, and the parking guidance is not simple enough to make driving the easiest arrival option.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and checkout is by 11:00 AM. Guests using the Skyspa should bring towels from their room.
