Overview
Rail and highway-bus arrivals both finish within a one-minute walk of Chisun Grand Takayama. Takayama Station is across the street, the neighboring Nohi Bus Center is equally close, and the old town is about ten minutes away on foot.
This compact setup eases luggage-heavy arrivals, early departures, and itineraries combining trains with buses to Shirakawa-go or the Okuhida area. Inside, 78 non-smoking rooms accommodate everyone from solo guests and couples to groups of four.
Rooms
The room selection extends well beyond a standard double. At the compact end, the 18-square-meter Standard Semi-double has one bed, a shower booth, and a separate toilet, but no bathtub. Queen and twin categories give two guests more space.
Small groups can compare the 27-square-meter Grand Triple with the 50-square-meter Family Room. The triple adds a third bed, while the top-floor family layout has two queen beds, sleeps four, and looks toward the surrounding mountains. A 27-square-meter Universal Room provides wheelchair access between the sleeping area and bathroom.
Facilities
The second-floor guest bathing area has a jacuzzi and mist sauna, open from the afternoon until midnight. It's a welcome option after a day on foot, especially for guests staying in a room with only a shower.
During the afternoon and evening, the breakfast room becomes a free coffee lounge with Wi-Fi and power outlets. Complimentary rental bicycles are also available, though numbers are limited and advance reservations aren't accepted.
Dining
Dining is focused on breakfast. The paid buffet features roughly 60 Japanese and Western choices, including Hida-grown rice, local and seasonal dishes, and breads.
The restaurant doesn't serve lunch or dinner. Later in the day, the room becomes a self-service coffee lounge, so plan evening meals in central Takayama.
Location and transport
Staying in the Takayama Station Area keeps two transport networks close at hand. Limited Express Hida trains connect Takayama with Nagoya and Toyama, while buses from the neighboring Nohi Bus Center serve destinations including Shirakawa-go and Okuhida. Some departures require reservations, so check the current schedule before planning a tight connection.
The location isn't limited to transport convenience. Sanmachi's preserved streets, Takayama Jinya, and the morning markets can all be worked into a central sightseeing day on foot.
Why stay here
A one-minute approach from both the railway station and bus center takes pressure off arrival and departure days. Multi-bed rooms make the hotel more flexible for families and small groups, while the bathing area and coffee lounge provide more downtime space than a room-only stay.
Takayama's historic center remains close enough to explore without a local ride. Sanmachi combines traditional wooden townhouses, sake breweries, food, and small shops, while an early start puts the morning markets within a comfortable walk.
Good to know
The Standard Semi-double has no bathtub, and the guest bathing area is a jacuzzi-and-mist-sauna facility rather than a natural hot spring. Check the room category carefully if either point matters to your stay.
The 30-space mechanical car park is first come, first served and has vehicle-size restrictions. Rental bicycles are also limited, and neither parking nor bicycles can be reserved in advance.
1-minute walk
