Overview

Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa is about a five-minute uphill walk from the Takanawa Exit of Shinagawa Station. All 908 rooms have balconies, while the surrounding Prince complex shares a 20,000-square-meter Japanese garden.

Rather than the compact format of a typical station hotel, it offers spacious grounds, several restaurants, extensive banquet facilities, and seasonal pools. The tradeoff is the uphill approach from Shinagawa rather than a location immediately beside the platforms.

Rooms

Most Superior and Club rooms measure about 29.9 square meters, while larger corner and triple layouts range from 37.8 to 38.6 square meters. Several configurations accommodate three guests, and a 38.6-square-meter layout can sleep up to four. Every room includes a balcony.

Club rooms are on floors 15 and 16 and include lounge access for breakfast and refreshments. Suites range from 60.1-square-meter Junior Suites to 120-square-meter Executive Club Suites, offering considerably more space for families, groups, and longer stays.

Facilities

The Japanese garden is the hotel's most distinctive shared space, with ponds, seasonal plantings, historic structures, and paths connecting the neighboring Prince hotels. Guests can also use a fitness room, smart lockers, a prayer room, a convenience store, parking, and extensive meeting and banquet facilities.

The outdoor pools open only on limited dates during summer. Charges and access requirements depend on the pool, room category, and package, so check the applicable conditions if pool access is important to your stay.

Dining

Slope Side Diner Zakuro is the main buffet restaurant. Shimizu serves Japanese cuisine and sushi, while Kokiden specializes in Chinese dishes. Momiji Lounge and Asama Main Bar offer afternoon tea, light refreshments, and evening drinks.

In-room dining is currently unavailable, so guests expecting room service will need to use the hotel's restaurants and lounges.

Location and transport

The hotel is about five minutes uphill from Shinagawa Station's Takanawa Exit and roughly three minutes from Takanawadai Station on the Toei Asakusa Line. A free shuttle runs between Shinagawa Prince Hotel and the Prince hotels in Takanawa.

Shinagawa Station serves the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen toward Nagoya, Kyoto, and Shin-Osaka, as well as JR and Keikyu lines. This location is convenient for westbound bullet-train departures, trips toward Yokohama or Kamakura, and itineraries that combine Tokyo with Haneda Airport.

Airport access

Keikyu trains travel directly from Haneda Airport to Shinagawa Station, with the fastest journeys taking about 11 to 14 minutes depending on the terminal. From the station, continue uphill on foot or take the hotel shuttle if the timetable is convenient.

Direct airport limousine buses connect the hotel with Narita Airport in about 100 to 120 minutes. Check schedules and reservation requirements before traveling, particularly for early flights or late arrivals.

Why stay here

Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa is a strong choice for travelers who want Shinagawa's Shinkansen and airport connections along with gardens, balcony rooms, multiple restaurants, and more space than a typical station-side business hotel. Triple, four-person, connecting, and suite layouts also make it well suited to families and groups.

The Takanawa side has attractions beyond its transport links. Maxell Aqua Park is near the station, while the wider neighborhood includes Sengakuji Temple and other historic temples and shrines. Within the Prince complex, the Japanese garden offers a quieter place to walk without leaving the hotel grounds.

Good to know

The five-minute walk from Shinagawa Station is uphill. Travelers with heavy luggage may prefer to check the free shuttle timetable or take a taxi rather than walk from the station.

The pools are seasonal, and access conditions differ by room and package. In-room dining is currently unavailable.
