Overview
Ten outdoor baths and two indoor baths define the experience at Hilton Takayama Resort, a forested hillside retreat in the Takayama-Hida Folk Village Area southwest of central Takayama. Every guest room and the large bathing areas face the Northern Alps, though clear views naturally depend on the weather.
The resort is scheduled to open on September 14, 2026, following the renovation and rebranding of Hotel Associa Takayama Resort. This is a place for unhurried time on site rather than spontaneous walks into town. A complimentary shuttle from Takayama Station takes about eight minutes.
Rooms
The main room decision is how much space and lounge access you want. Guest and Executive rooms measure about 35 square metres, Deluxe categories about 46 square metres, and the five suites either 70 or 90 square metres.
All rooms face the mountains. Executive rooms and suites include Executive Lounge access, which is also available to eligible Hilton Honors Diamond members.
Facilities
Hot-spring bathing is the standout feature. Ten Bou No Yu includes an infinity bath among its ten outdoor and two indoor baths, providing plenty of variety without requiring a trip across town.
A fitness centre and children's playground offer alternatives to the baths. Drivers have complimentary self-parking and EV charging, while cots are available for younger guests.
Dining
With four restaurants and bars, guests aren't dependent on returning to central Takayama for dinner. Local produce and Hida beef feature across Western, Japanese, and teppanyaki menus, while SCENERY serves as the lounge and bar.
Buffet breakfast costs extra unless included in the booked rate. Check current opening days and meal times, especially during the resort's phased launch.
Location and transport
The complimentary shuttle is the simplest connection to Takayama Station and takes about eight minutes. There isn't a verified walking route, and the shuttle follows a timetable, so match it to your train when arriving with luggage or leaving early.
Both Hida Folk Village and Takayama's old town are about 2.8 kilometres from the resort. A taxi, local bus, or car is likely to be more comfortable than walking in poor weather or with small children.
Airport access
There is no hotel airport shuttle. From Chubu Centrair International Airport, the usual public transport route is by Meitetsu train to Nagoya, followed by the Limited Express Hida or a highway bus to Takayama. The hotel shuttle covers only the final leg from the station to the resort.
This takes planning. Leave time for transfers and confirm that your arrival aligns with the station shuttle.
Why stay here
Staying outside central Takayama brings Northern Alps outlooks, extensive hot-spring bathing, on-site dining, and more spacious room categories. The tradeoff is daily transport planning if the old-town streets and morning markets are the focus of your trip.
Hida Folk Village gives the hillside area its strongest sightseeing connection. More than 30 traditional buildings preserve the material culture of Hida's mountain communities, while craft demonstrations and hands-on activities add context beyond the architecture. Treat it as a planned outing rather than something directly outside the resort.
Good to know
Only about 90 rooms are expected to be available when Hilton Takayama Resort opens, with the full 283-room inventory planned for spring 2027. Early guests should expect limited availability while renovation work continues.
The shuttle is scheduled transport to Takayama Station, not an on-demand service around town. Confirm the latest times before travel.
