Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Two minutes on foot from Ikebukuro Station's West Exit South, hotel hisoca ikebukuro combines a central location with unusually generous private bathing facilities. All 32 rooms have a large bathtub and their own sauna, so you can unwind after sightseeing without visiting a shared bathhouse.

The hotel is on the west side of Ikebukuro, near Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre as well as the station's department stores and restaurants. Breakfast is delivered to your room, where a table and seating provide space for meals together.

Rooms

The Standard Double measures 34.1 square meters and has a king-size bed, sofa, and table. Twin categories require closer comparison: the Wide Bed Twin accommodates four people in two double beds, while the Deluxe Twin sleeps three using two single beds and a sofa bed. Capacity for four does not mean four separate beds.

Larger groups can consider hisoca Cabin 5, which accommodates five with a bunk bed and sofa beds. Cabin 6 sleeps six using two bunk beds with wider lower beds and also has an open-air bath. In the Tatami Wide Bed Twin, two double mattresses are placed on a tatami-style floor.

Sauna type also varies. Most categories have a mist sauna, while rooms with DS in the name have a dry sauna. The hisoca Suite DS includes both types and an open-air bath. Compare the bathing facilities and sleeping arrangements carefully, since they aren't identical across the hotel.

Facilities

The dry saunas are lined with cypress, and guests can pour water over the stones to create steam. Mist saunas operate at a lower temperature. Both types are private to the room, with bathing space beside them.

On the second floor, the guest lounge provides seasonal sweets, coffee, tea, and juice. Plates, glasses, cutlery, and board games are available to borrow, and there's a shared microwave. Each room also has a refrigerator, kettle, and toaster oven, which is handy when bringing back food from nearby shops.

Loan items include baby cots, baby baths, and bed guards, but quantities are limited. Ask ahead if you need them rather than depending on availability after arrival.

Dining

Breakfast comes to you. It is delivered between 7 and 9:30 a.m., with each guest selecting a menu at check-in. The four choices are a toast plate, French toast, beef-tongue curry toast, and Taiwanese-style rice porridge made with seafood stock. Guests staying several nights can choose a different option each morning.

Breakfast must be ordered in advance or at check-in the day before, as same-day orders aren't available. You can eat without getting everyone ready to go downstairs.

For lunch and dinner, you'll find restaurants and department-store food shops nearby. Food delivery is also permitted, though orders must be collected in the first-floor lobby. Tableware is available from the lounge.

Location and transport

Approach from Ikebukuro Station's West Exit South. The advertised two-minute walk begins at the exit, so allow extra time to reach it from your platform inside this large station.

JR trains connect Ikebukuro with Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Ueno. The Marunouchi, Yurakucho, and Fukutoshin subway lines provide other routes across Tokyo, alongside Tobu and Seibu rail services.

Airport access

From Narita Airport, take the Keisei Skyliner to Nippori Station and transfer to the JR Yamanote Line for Ikebukuro. The Narita Express doesn't provide direct service to Ikebukuro.

From Haneda Airport, one rail option is the Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho Station, followed by the JR Yamanote Line. Airport buses also serve the Ikebukuro station area, but they don't stop at the hotel entrance. Check the boarding point, timetable, and remaining walk before choosing the bus.

Why stay here

Private baths and saunas make it easy to set aside time to unwind between outings. Several room layouts also allow families and groups to stay together, provided everyone is comfortable with the stated bed-sharing arrangements.

Nearby Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre stages concerts, plays, and dance performances, while Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park hosts outdoor events. Staying west of the station keeps these venues and the area's dining close enough for an evening out without another train journey.

Good to know

Check-in begins at 3 p.m., and checkout is at 11 a.m. Reception can hold luggage before check-in and after checkout. Guests remove their shoes inside the rooms, indoor smoking is prohibited, and the limited paid parking spaces require advance reservations.
