Overview
Nara's two central rail networks are both within walking distance. HOTEL LiVEMAX Nara Ekimae is five minutes from Kintetsu Nara Station's Exit 7-N and eight minutes from the East Exit of JR Nara Station, so you can choose the station that matches each journey.
Kintetsu Nara is closer to Nara Park and serves Kintetsu routes toward Osaka and Kyoto. JR Nara handles JR services and the main airport buses. The hotel itself is modest, with 34 rooms, a public bath, coin laundry, and no restaurant or parking.
Rooms
The room choice is unusually straightforward. Thirty-two of the 34 rooms measure 11 square meters: two Singles for one guest and thirty Twins for two. The remaining two rooms are 25-square-meter Triples with three separate beds.
Solo guests get the essentials in a compact layout. Two people sharing a Twin should expect limited floor space, particularly with large suitcases, while the Triple is the only substantially larger option. All three room categories have non-smoking choices, and guest rooms include Wi-Fi and a microwave.
Facilities
The public bath opens from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM and again from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. It's a welcome alternative to spending all your downtime in a small room.
Coin laundry helps on longer trips, while the in-room microwave partly offsets the lack of a restaurant. Drinks vending machines and a 24-hour front desk cover a few more everyday needs.
Location and transport
The hotel lies between Nara's two central stations in the Kintetsu Nara Station Area. Kintetsu Nara is the shorter walk and is better placed for reaching Nara Park on foot. JR Nara takes a few minutes longer but adds JR routes and the city's main airport-bus stop.
The two stations aren't part of one complex. Check which operator runs your train before setting out, especially if you're meeting someone or returning after dark.
Airport access
Limousine buses for Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Airport serve the East Exit of JR Nara Station, about an eight-minute walk from the hotel. The airport bus is direct from the station, not from the hotel door.
Schedules and reservation rules vary by direction and departure, so check the current Nara Kotsu timetable before planning around a flight.
Why stay here
Keeping both Nara stations within an eight-minute walk gives you flexibility across Kintetsu trains, JR services, and airport buses. The public bath, coin laundry, and room microwaves support a straightforward stay. The tradeoff is limited space: most rooms are very compact, and there is no dining or parking.
Toward Kintetsu Nara, Higashimuki's covered arcade leads to restaurants and souvenir shops. Continue south into Naramachi for cafes and historic merchant streets, or head east of the station for Nara Park's deer, temples, and museums.
Good to know
There is no restaurant or breakfast service, and guests arriving by car need to arrange parking elsewhere. If two people are sharing an 11-square-meter Twin, pack with the limited floor space in mind.
