Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Choose Hotel Resol Ueno if you want Ueno's rail choices close by without staying in a larger terminal district. JR Ueno Station is within a one-minute walk via the Asakusa or Iriya exit. Tokyo Metro Exit 9 is also about one minute away and serves both the Ginza and Hibiya lines. Keisei Ueno is six minutes on foot for the Skyliner side of the neighborhood.

The hotel leans into calm Japanese-modern interiors and a home-like Living Lobby rather than a large roster of facilities. Its most memorable details are the shoes-off room routine, Ueno-themed art, and sleep-focused beds with memory foam over pocket-coil springs.

Rooms

Rooms are compact, simple, and designed around a quieter shoes-off routine. The 15 sqm Moderate room has one 140 cm bed and can accommodate one or two guests, making it a straightforward fit for a solo stay or a longer business trip. The 20 sqm Twin room has two 110 cm beds for two guests sharing. The Concept Room ART x ZOO also sleeps two and adds Ueno-inspired wall art, including panda motifs and colors associated with Impressionism.

Room essentials cover sleeping, bathing, and getting ready. Each room has a bed, private bath area, and washbasin. A toilet with washing functions is also provided. In-room equipment includes a TV, refrigerator, and electric kettle. Mobile phone chargers and hair dryers are available as well. Amenities cover bath items, nightwear, and tea items, with some supplies collected from the lobby amenity bar.

Facilities

The Living Lobby is intended for more than waiting. It gives guests a place for conversation, laptop work, or a quiet pause between train trips. Seating includes sofas for lingering and work spots with power outlets. Art displays change through the year. Resol Gallery Ueno combines permanent works with special exhibitions held every other month, giving repeat guests a reason to look around before heading upstairs.

Details across the property include greenery, a welcome aroma, and original beds. Everyday equipment covers a vending machine, coin laundry, and ice maker. A microwave is available for simple meals or late returns. Copy and fax handling are offered. Newspaper and courier reception are also available. A separate smoking area is provided outside the non-smoking guest-room setup.

Dining

Dining is not a major in-house feature, so plan on nearby Ueno restaurants for full meals. The Living Lobby can be used for conversation or a light meal, which helps if you are between train trips rather than planning a full sit-down stop. A microwave supports simple meals, and the vending machine covers quick drinks or snacks. If a full restaurant, bar, or breakfast service matters, confirm the available options before arrival.

Location and transport

JR Ueno is one minute on foot from the Asakusa or Iriya exit. The JR side gives you the Yamanote Line close by. Tokyo Metro Exit 9 for the Ginza and Hibiya lines has a similar walking time. Keisei Ueno is six minutes away for Narita Skyliner trips.

The three-operator setup lets you plan each day around the route that best fits the trip. JR is helpful for Yamanote Line movement and shinkansen-linked journeys. Tokyo Metro covers Ginza Line and Hibiya Line trips. Keisei is the convenient side for the Narita Skyliner.

The surrounding area is a strong fit for Tokyo sightseeing, especially the art galleries and museums around Ueno. Sendai to Ueno on the Tohoku/Hokkaido Shinkansen takes about 1 hour 30 minutes. For Tokaido or Sanyo Shinkansen trips, travel through Tokyo Station first. The travel time to Tokyo is about 1 hour 50 minutes from Nagoya and about 2 hours 40 minutes from Osaka before continuing onward.

Airport access

From Haneda Airport, the Keikyu Airport Limited Express with a JR connection reaches JR Ueno in about 40 minutes. The Tokyo Monorail with a JR connection is also about 40 minutes. A limousine bus plus JR connection takes about 50 minutes. Actual timings vary by transfer, departure time, and service pattern.

For Narita Airport, the Keisei Skyliner Express reaches Keisei Ueno in about 45 minutes, followed by the six-minute walk to the hotel. A JR Narita Express or JR-line route to JR Ueno is listed at about 40 minutes. Choose Keisei if you want the Skyliner; choose JR if you prefer the shortest final walk.

Why stay here

The strongest reason to choose Hotel Resol Ueno is rail choice in a compact part of Ueno. JR, Tokyo Metro, and Keisei are all close, so each day can be planned around the operator that best fits the trip rather than a single route.

The hotel also has a more defined character than many compact business hotels. Rooms are small but clearly specified by size, bed width, and capacity. The Living Lobby adds a place to work and decompress, while the art program gives the common areas a local thread. Coin laundry and a microwave make longer stays easier without turning the property into a full-service hotel.

Good to know

All guest rooms are non-smoking, and layouts may change without notice. Rooms follow Resol's shoes-off style, so expect to remove shoes when entering.

Some amenities are provided at the lobby amenity bar rather than placed entirely in the room. Rental items cover extra bedding, humidity control, and clothing care, which can help with longer stays or business clothing. From 2025, Modern rooms include under-bed storage, which helps if you travel with a large suitcase.

The hotel's child policy does not accept elementary school-age children; travelers with children should confirm the current rule before reserving.
