Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Choose JR-East Hotel Mets Yokohama when you want to stay next to Yokohama’s main rail hub rather than in central Tokyo or along the waterfront. The hotel is in the Yokohama Station Area, making it a good fit for business trips, overnight rail connections, and sightseeing itineraries built around trains.

From Yokohama Station, the walk takes about three minutes from the North Gate and northwest exit via the pedestrian deck. That approach is especially convenient with luggage or when you expect to pass through the interchange more than once. The hotel keeps things straightforward, with compact rooms, self-check-in machines, and breakfast in the same building.

Minato Mirai and Chinatown are not outside the door, so this is not the choice for a waterfront stay. Both areas are easy to reach by train, and day-of luggage storage helps when your schedule does not line up neatly with check-in or check-out.

Rooms

Room categories are geared toward solo travelers, couples, and pairs, with standard single, double, and twin layouts available. The hotel also has a universal design room.

Some rooms add a sofa bed for up to four guests, while others use a shower-booth layout. Higher categories include bathrooms with a separate washing area; simpler rooms have modular bathrooms.

Room sizes range from 14 sq m in a Superior Single to 25 sq m in a Deluxe Twin. Guestrooms include pocket-coil mattresses, smart TVs, air purifiers with a humidifier function, free Wi-Fi, and basic in-room appliances for a short city stay. To stream content on the smart TV, use your own account.

Preschool children may share a bed within the hotel’s rules, with one child allowed per bed.

Facilities

Check-in is handled through self-check-in machines, with remote help available through the online reception system when needed. The front desk can assist with luggage shipping, wake-up calls, and taxi arrangements. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building, and the lobby drink service offers hot coffee and black tea.

Luggage storage is available on the day of check-in and until midnight on the day of check-out. A lobby amenity station provides daily-care items and bath salts, so guests can take only what they need. Coin laundry is available, and guestroom TVs show both laundry status and breakfast crowding.

All guestrooms are non-smoking, with a 24-hour smoking booth elsewhere in the building. A vending area has drinks, ice, and a microwave. Rental items are limited but cover travel appliances, children’s supplies, and barrier-free equipment; ask in advance if a specific item is important for your stay.

Dining

Breakfast is served at Bistro Katsuki on the third floor. The morning buffet includes Japanese, Western, and Chinese-style dishes. It runs from 6:50 to 10:30, with last order at 10:00, and costs 1,500 yen including tax.

Takeout breakfast is not offered. Same-day breakfast coupons may be purchased at the front desk, though they may not be available when reservations are full. Outside breakfast hours, Bistro Katsuki operates from 11:30 to 21:00, with last order at 20:00 and irregular holidays.

Location and transport

Transport is the focus of this location: it puts you close to Yokohama’s rail network, not the waterfront. If your plans involve repeated train rides, the pedestrian-deck approach from the North Gate and northwest exit is a clear advantage.

Tokyo Station is about 27 minutes away on the JR Tokaido Line. Shinagawa takes about 20 minutes on the JR Ueno-Tokyo Line, while Shinjuku is about 33 minutes away on the JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line. For bullet-train plans, Shin-Yokohama is about 13 minutes away on the JR Yokohama Line.

For sightseeing, expect to use trains rather than walk straight into the main leisure districts. Yokohama Chinatown is about 20 minutes away by train, and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is about 25 minutes away. Minato Mirai also fits naturally into a rail-based itinerary.

Airport access

Haneda Airport, also known as Tokyo International Airport, is about 25 minutes by train from Yokohama via the Keikyu Airport Line and Keikyu Main Line. Narita International Airport is about 90 minutes away by train on the Narita Express. These routes suit travelers who are comfortable beginning the airport leg from Yokohama rather than staying near a terminal.

Why stay here

Stay here when rail convenience matters more than extra floor space or a resort-style atmosphere. The short pedestrian-deck approach, self-check-in setup, and same-day luggage storage work well for short stays where timing matters. Families and small groups should compare twin rooms with sofa-bed options, while solo travelers may find the smaller layouts enough for a train-focused trip.

The hotel also keeps breakfast, laundry, and luggage storage in one building. Its strengths are everyday convenience and the familiar JR-East Hotel Mets format: arrive, reset, and keep moving between rail trips.

Good to know

Check-in starts at 15:00, and check-out is until 11:00. The hotel accepts cash in yen, credit cards, and several IC or QR payment methods. Foreign currency exchange is not available. Cancellation fees are 20% for cancellations the day before arrival and 100% for same-day cancellations or no-shows.

The affiliated parking lot is Times JR YOKOHAMA Parking. It cannot be reserved in advance, and there are no hotel-only spaces. Parking costs 1,500 yen including tax per 24 hours. Vehicle limits are 5 m in length, 2.1 m in height, and 1.9 m in width.

Preschool children can stay free when sharing a bed, subject to the one-child-per-bed rule. Towels and children’s amenities can be requested.
