Overview
Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo is about five minutes on foot from Sapporo Station's South Exit. JR trains and two subway lines are nearby, although the hotel isn't directly connected to the station. A direct limousine bus to New Chitose Airport serves the north entrance.
The wider Sapporo Station Area brings rail connections, shopping, and city sightseeing within easy reach. Rooms range from straightforward doubles and twins to family rooms, four-bed layouts, and suites, covering anything from an overnight stop to a longer city stay. Several restaurants, a club lounge for eligible room categories, and a separate sports club add more options beyond the essentials.
Rooms
Room choice matters here. Standard doubles measure 18.7 square meters, while standard twins are 24.3 square meters. Dedicated triple and family rooms give groups more workable options, and the Standard Family layout has two modular bathrooms to ease shared mornings.
Renewed in May 2025, the top-floor Plaza rooms include suites, city views, and a connecting configuration for up to six guests. Plaza Floor stays and eligible Premier Floor plans come with Club Lounge access. Some larger Comfort and Premier rooms also separate the bath and toilet, a detail worth checking when several people are sharing.
Facilities
The hotel's Pent Sept sports club includes a pool, gym, sauna, and bathing area, and access costs extra for most guests. It is limited to guests aged 16 and older, while Plaza Floor guests receive access with their room. The club closes for inspection on the 10th of each month.
Free luggage storage is available before check-in and on the day of departure, which helps with early arrivals or a final round of sightseeing. The hotel also provides concierge support and a large, weather-protected parking garage. Drivers with heavy bags should unload at the front entrance because stairs separate the garage elevator from the lobby.
Dining
Breakfast comes in two distinct formats. Glass Seasons serves an early buffet featuring Hokkaido dishes such as seafood sushi and soup curry. A Japanese set meal is served in a top-floor restaurant overlooking Sapporo, providing a quieter alternative when you don't need the speed of a buffet.
Lunch and dinner cover several styles without requiring another trip toward the station. The restaurants focus on Hokkaido ingredients, Japanese cooking, teppanyaki, and buffet dining, while a bar and pastry shop handle lighter stops.
Location and transport
Published walking times are about five minutes from JR Sapporo Station, seven minutes from the Namboku Line, and ten minutes from the Toho Line. JR services connect with New Chitose Airport, Otaru, and longer journeys around Hokkaido. Within the city, the Namboku Line reaches Odori in one stop and Susukino in two.
JR Tower's shopping and dining are also nearby. The street-level walk is short, but snow and icy pavements can make it more demanding because there's no enclosed passage between the station and hotel.
Airport access
New Chitose Airport has two clear options. JR Airport trains reach Sapporo in as little as 33 minutes, followed by the five-minute walk to the hotel. The limousine bus stops at the north entrance and takes about 90 minutes under normal conditions, trading speed for less luggage handling.
Traffic and winter weather can delay the bus, so check the current schedule before departure. If time matters most, take the train. With heavy bags, the direct bus may be easier.
Why stay here
The short walk to JR trains helps with early departures and rail-based day trips, while the hotel-door airport bus gives luggage-heavy arrivals another option. Dedicated group rooms also work for families and friends. The tradeoffs are the outdoor station approach and the sports club's extra fee and age restriction.
Hokkaido University's green campus is close by, while the Former Hokkaido Government Office Building and Odori Park extend the sightseeing route south into central Sapporo. From there, the subway provides an easy continuation to the Clock Tower or Susukino without changing hotels.
