Overview
KOKO HOTEL Ikebukuro is an eight-minute walk from the East Exit of Ikebukuro Station, near Sunshine City and Hareza Ikebukuro on the east side of Tokyo-Ikebukuro. Shopping, cinemas, and entertainment remain close, while the station's broad rail network is still within walking distance.
The cafe is the main shared space. Owl motifs and retro-modern details give it more character than a standard lobby, while compact guest rooms keep the focus on a straightforward city stay.
Rooms
All 152 rooms are non-smoking. Single and semi-double rooms start at 12 square meters, while 15-square-meter categories provide a wider bed. Twin layouts have more usable floor space, and the largest option is a 25-square-meter triple room.
Space is the key booking decision. Solo guests and couples traveling light may find the smaller categories sufficient, but two people with larger cases should compare the twin rooms. A 23-square-meter universal double can be reserved by telephone.
Facilities
The front desk operates around the clock, and luggage storage is available on the day of check-in or check-out. Coin laundry helps during longer visits, while a shared microwave, water server, and ice machine are convenient for food and drinks brought back to the hotel.
Parking is limited to six spaces. Reservations must be made by telephone, and a two-meter height limit applies, so arriving by public transport is generally simpler.
Dining
The first-floor cafe is open from 6:00 to 22:00, with breakfast served until 14:00. Coffee, other drinks, and light meals are available during the day, followed by beer from 17:00.
The 20-seat space also has Wi-Fi and power outlets, so you can plan the day or get some work done. It isn't a full restaurant, but the long opening hours provide more flexibility than a conventional breakfast room.
Location and transport
Ikebukuro Station brings together JR, Tokyo Metro, Seibu, and Tobu services. JR trains run directly to Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Ueno, while the Marunouchi, Yurakucho, and Fukutoshin lines provide routes through central Tokyo. Seibu and Tobu trains are useful for plans extending west or northwest of the city center.
The hotel is on the Sunshine City side of the district. Higashi-Ikebukuro Station and the Mukohara streetcar stop are also about ten minutes away, though Ikebukuro Station gives most visitors the widest choice of routes.
Airport access
Airport limousine buses from Haneda and Narita stop in the Sunshine City area, about six minutes from the hotel on foot. This isn't a hotel-door service, and road traffic can affect journey times.
Rail travel from Haneda generally involves a transfer at Shinagawa or Hamamatsucho before continuing to Ikebukuro. Whichever route you choose, allow for the final walk with luggage.
Why stay here
Sunshine City visits, east-side shopping, and evenings at nearby cinemas can all begin close to the hotel, with Ikebukuro's rail network still within walking distance. The tradeoffs are compact standard rooms and a longer station walk than at hotels beside the East Exit.
Sunshine City combines an aquarium and observation deck with shops, restaurants, and indoor entertainment. The surrounding east-side streets add major cinemas and stores focused on anime, manga, and character goods, so you can spend a full day on this side of Ikebukuro.
Good to know
The hotel isn't connected to Ikebukuro Station. Use the East Exit and allow time for the eight-minute walk, especially with luggage.
Full room cleaning takes place every third day, and luggage storage is limited to the days of check-in and check-out. Guests who need the universal double or one of the six parking spaces should reserve by phone.
