Overview
Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo PREMIER is located on historic Sanjo-dori in central Kyoto, about a three-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station Exit 5. It is a good fit for travelers who want a polished stay near both municipal subway lines, without being directly beside Kyoto Station or deep in Gion.
The hotel is in the Karasuma Oike Station Area, where the Karasuma and Tozai lines meet. From here, guests can use the Karasuma Line for Kyoto Station and Shijo, and the Tozai Line for cross-town trips toward Nijo, Sanjo Keihan, and Higashiyama.
Rooms
Rooms are larger than a typical simple business-hotel layout. Categories include a 32.4-square-meter Superior King room with extra-bed capacity, a 36.1-square-meter Deluxe Twin, and a 54.9-square-meter Junior Suite with two queen beds. Some rooms accommodate up to four guests, making the hotel easier to consider for couples, friends, and small families.
All rooms are non-smoking and include free Wi-Fi. The main choice is how much space you want, which bed arrangement works best, and whether you prefer a standard room or a larger layout with more room to rest between sightseeing plans.
Facilities
The bath facilities are one of the hotel's main strengths. The basement public bath is about 90 square meters and faces a garden setting, giving guests an easy place to unwind after a long day of walking. There is also a private bath that hotel guests can reserve, with space for up to four people.
For longer stays, the hotel includes practical support such as a fitness room and 24-hour coin laundry. Paid baggage service is also available between this property and Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station.
Dining
Curd serves Italian cuisine centered on fresh cheese from the on-site Good Cheese Laboratory. It operates across several parts of the day, including breakfast, lunch, cafe, dinner, and takeout periods for hotel guests. Breakfast uses a main-dish and half-buffet format, with fresh cheese and seasonal deli items included in the morning selection.
Y bar, produced by Takeno Sake Brewery from Kyotango, adds a compact sake-bar option on the first floor. Together, the restaurant, cheese shop, and bar make the hotel convenient on evenings when you would rather stay in than cross town for another meal.
Location and transport
Karasuma Oike Station is the main access point, with Exit 5 about three minutes away on foot. The Karasuma Line gives the simplest subway route toward Kyoto Station, while the Tozai Line helps with east-west travel across central Kyoto.
Hankyu Karasuma Station is also about an eight-minute walk away, which can be helpful when the Hankyu Kyoto Line works better for a day trip or shopping route. For Shinkansen and airport-rail connections, however, Kyoto Station is still the key transfer point, so travelers arriving with heavy luggage may prefer a taxi or a carefully planned subway transfer.
Airport access
Airport access requires transfers rather than a direct hotel-door shuttle. From Osaka International Airport, the trip to Karasuma Oike is listed at about one hour and five minutes. From Kansai International Airport, it is about one hour and 35 minutes. Both routes use a combination of limousine bus or rail and subway connections.
For the simplest airport and Shinkansen transfer, a Kyoto Station hotel will still be easier. Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo PREMIER is better suited to travelers who want central subway access, good in-house dining, and bath facilities once they are settled in Kyoto.
Why stay here
Choose Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo PREMIER if you want a central Kyoto stay with Karasuma Oike subway access, larger room categories, public and private bath options, and enough dining in the building to make quieter evenings comfortable. It offers more space and facilities than a simpler rail-focused hotel while keeping Kyoto Station reachable by subway.
Good to know
The hotel is close to Karasuma Oike Station but is not directly connected to it. There is no hotel parking, so public transport, taxis, and walking routes are the easier options. If the private bath matters to your stay, reserve a slot in advance rather than counting on walk-in availability.
