Noborioji Hotel Nara

Overview

Kofukuji Temple is next to Noborioji Hotel Nara, with Nara Park close enough to explore on foot. Kintetsu Nara Station is about three minutes away, so you don't need a taxi after arriving by Kintetsu train.

There are just 13 rooms and suites. French course meals at Le Bois and salon concerts on selected dates offer reasons to spend an evening at the hotel as well as visiting Nara's temples and park.

Rooms

Deluxe Rooms provide 40 to 43 square metres and two twin beds. Suites offer considerably more space at 70 to 85 square metres, while the 25-square-metre Single Room has a double bed for one guest.

The connecting option provides 85 square metres, with four twin beds for up to four guests. It allows friends or a family with teenagers to stay together, subject to the hotel's minimum age of 13. Check the occupancy when booking, since the larger suites are listed for two guests rather than four.

Facilities

Staff can provide porter assistance on foot between the hotel and Kintetsu Nara Station. Contact the hotel before arrival if you'd like help with luggage. This is a walking service, not a station shuttle.

The hotel has seven on-site parking spaces. If you're arriving by car, confirm parking arrangements before setting out.

Dining

Le Bois serves French course meals prepared with ingredients from the Nara region. Lunch and dinner are available, and some accommodation packages include dinner and breakfast. Check which meals are included in your rate before making separate restaurant plans.

Salon concerts take place on selected dates. Concert-and-meal plans combine a performance with a course menu, so check the event schedule if music is part of the reason for your visit. The concerts aren't a nightly service or included with every room booking.

Location and transport

Kintetsu Nara is the closest station. JR Nara Station is a separate arrival point about 1.5 kilometres away, with the taxi ride taking roughly five minutes depending on traffic. Use the full station name when planning your arrival or arranging a meeting point.

From the hotel, you can walk to Kofukuji and into Nara Park without taking another bus. That makes it easy to return between sightseeing and a reserved lunch or dinner.

Airport access

Airport limousine buses connect Kansai International Airport with JR Nara Station. Allow around one hour and 40 minutes for the bus, followed by a taxi to the hotel. Seats on buses departing Nara for Kansai Airport must be reserved in advance.

Itami Airport also has a direct bus to JR Nara, taking around 80 minutes before the onward taxi ride. Road traffic can affect both journeys, so leave extra time when heading to the airport.

Why stay here

A short walk from Kintetsu Nara simplifies arrival, while the hotel's location lets you combine time in Nara Park with a French course dinner without a long journey between the two. The connecting room lets a small group stay together with separate beds, while the Single Room accommodates solo stays.

At neighboring Kofukuji, the National Treasure Hall displays Buddhist sculpture, including the six-armed Ashura figure. The temple grounds lead into the wider park, where deer roam among paths and historic sites. There's plenty nearby to explore at your own pace before returning for a meal.

Good to know

Overnight guests and restaurant diners must be aged 13 or older. The restaurant requests smart-casual dress.

Kofukuji's five-storey pagoda is undergoing restoration. Don't expect the unobstructed pagoda view shown in older photographs; check the temple's current visitor information before your stay.
