Overview
Fukuoka Airport is about five minutes from Hakata by subway. Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Station is about one minute on foot from Hakata Station's Chikushi Exit, on the Shinkansen side of the rail complex.
The location simplifies late-flight arrivals, early trains, and short stays in Fukuoka. Yet this 221-room hotel offers more than a bare overnight beside the tracks, with twin layouts for up to five guests, a substantial breakfast buffet, a guest garden, and a 24-hour gym.
Rooms
Standard doubles are compact at 15.5 square meters and accommodate one or two guests who expect to spend most of the day out. Moderate and superior twin rooms provide more flexibility, ranging from 19 to 27 square meters and sleeping up to four.
Deluxe twins are the roomiest option, with 32.6 to 34.9 square meters of space and beds for as many as five people. Seven balcony twins add a 14.5-square-meter outdoor area overlooking Hakata Station. Room size and maximum occupancy vary sharply, so compare the exact category rather than booking on the hotel name alone.
Facilities
The fifth-floor executive garden gives overnight guests an outdoor place to pause between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. A gym on the same floor remains open around the clock, which helps when flights, meetings, or train times make a normal workout schedule awkward.
Bedside charging, in-room coffee, and washbasins outside the bathroom are useful details across the room categories. Meeting and banquet rooms broaden the hotel's business role, though leisure guests are more likely to notice the garden and gym during a short stay.
Dining
Breakfast is served on the basement level from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The buffet features more than 50 items, with a thick beef burger, fresh orange juice, and local Hakata dishes among its signature choices.
Cross Point changes from a bright daytime cafe to a cocktail and sweets bar in the evening. It gives guests somewhere to meet, have coffee, or finish the night without heading back through the station.
Location and transport
The hotel is on the Fukuoka-Hakata side of central Fukuoka, where Shinkansen services, JR Kyushu trains, and both city subway lines meet. The Chikushi Exit is particularly convenient for Shinkansen arrivals and the east-side hotel cluster.
Hakata Bus Terminal and the main JR Hakata City frontage are on the opposite, Hakata Exit side. The distinction matters with luggage. Allow time to cross the rail complex when a highway bus or west-side meeting sets the schedule.
Airport access
Airport Line trains run directly between Fukuoka Airport and Hakata in about five minutes. The subway serves the domestic terminal, followed by the short walk from Hakata Station's Chikushi Exit to the hotel.
International arrivals require an extra step because the subway doesn't serve the international terminal. A free airport shuttle takes passengers to the domestic terminal for the train, with the inter-terminal ride taking about ten minutes before any traffic delays.
Why stay here
Flight-to-train transfers, early Shinkansen departures, and short rail trips around Kyushu require little extra ground travel from here. Larger twin layouts, the guest garden, and the round-the-clock gym add breathing room, while the Chikushi-side location is less immediate for Hakata Bus Terminal and the old-town streets west of the station.
Hakata has more depth than its rail complex suggests. A walk west leads toward Hakata Old Town, where Kushida Shrine, temples, and traditional culture are close to the shopping and entertainment at Canal City Hakata.
Good to know
Use the Chikushi Exit when arriving from the station. If you're coming from an international flight or catching a bus from the Hakata Exit side, build the airport shuttle or station crossing into your luggage plan.
