Overview
Richmond Hotel Yokohama Ekimae is located on the Tsuruya-cho side of central Yokohama, about two minutes on foot from Yokohama Station's Kita West Exit and about four minutes from the West Exit. It is a strong choice when the station is central to your plans.
The hotel works especially well for travelers who want easy rail connections, nearby shopping, and room options beyond a bare-bones solo layout. It is not a waterfront property, so trips to Minato Mirai, Chinatown, and the bayfront usually begin with a train, taxi, or local route from Yokohama Station.
Rooms
Room categories range from 18-square-meter standard rooms to comfort doubles, superior doubles, superior twins, family twins, and universal twins. Some twin rooms have separate bath, toilet, and washbasin areas, which can make a short stay more comfortable when traveling with luggage or more than one guest.
The family twin can accommodate up to three guests, while the universal twin provides a larger accessible layout. Children may be able to share existing beds under the hotel's rules, and baby beds or bed guards can be requested subject to availability.
Facilities
Facilities cover the essentials for a convenient station-area stay, including free Wi-Fi, an amenity bar, coin laundry, vending machines, an ice machine, a microwave, and automated machines for quick check-in and check-out.
All guest rooms are non-smoking, with a smoking booth on the third-floor lobby level. The hotel does not have on-site parking, so guests arriving by car should plan to use nearby paid lots.
Dining
Breakfast is served at Royal Host on the second floor. The morning buffet includes Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, along with a drink bar, and is available from 6:30 to 10:30, with final entry at 10:00.
For other meals, the west side of Yokohama Station has plenty close by. The station buildings and surrounding streets are convenient for dinner near the hotel after returning from Tokyo, Minato Mirai, or a day trip.
Location and transport
Yokohama Station brings together JR, Keikyu, Tokyu Toyoko, the Minatomirai Line, Sotetsu, and the Yokohama Municipal Subway. From here, travelers can reach central Yokohama, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Tokyo-side destinations, and the Minato Mirai corridor without first transferring in from a quieter neighborhood.
The Tsuruya-cho side is better for station convenience than harbor atmosphere. If bay views, Yamashita Park, or Chinatown walks are the main focus of the trip, it is worth comparing hotels closer to the waterfront or Kannai area.
Airport access
Airport access runs through Yokohama Station rather than a hotel shuttle. Haneda Airport is the simpler connection, with Keikyu rail service from Yokohama Station toward the airport.
For Narita Airport, plan on a longer rail or bus journey via Yokohama or Tokyo-side connections. Check the timetable carefully before arranging a tight arrival or departure.
Why stay here
Stay here when Yokohama Station access, flexible room categories, breakfast, and laundry matter more than waterfront scenery. It suits business trips, family-capable city stays, rail-focused Yokohama visits, and travelers who expect to move often between Yokohama and Tokyo.
The surrounding station area adds another practical advantage. Shopping, restaurants, underground passages, and multiple rail operators are close together, so everyday errands and onward travel are easy to handle without relying on taxis.
Good to know
Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station are separate stations. Use Yokohama Station for the city center, Keikyu, Tokyu, the Minatomirai Line, Sotetsu, the subway, and JR local routes; use Shin-Yokohama for the Tokaido Shinkansen.
