SAPPORO HOTEL by GRANBELL

Overview

Natural hot-spring baths occupy the 25th floor of SAPPORO HOTEL by GRANBELL, seven minutes north of Sapporo Station. The hotel has 605 rooms, while a restaurant and bar one floor above the spa provide broad views across the city.

Within the Sapporo Station Area, this is a north-side stay rather than a room inside the rail complex. The last seven minutes are outdoors. Odori and Susukino are farther south, but direct subway trains reach both from Sapporo.

Rooms

Room choice starts with the floor plan. Queen and twin rooms measure 24 to 26 square meters and accommodate up to three guests. Some queen rooms don't have a desk, so check the category carefully if you plan to work.

The 24-square-meter Terrace Twin with Bunk Beds accommodates four guests. Corner junior suites provide 41 square meters, while the two largest suite types occupy the 24th floor, measure 52 and 68 square meters, and sleep up to four or six guests. The bunk room adds beds without much extra floor space; the suites provide the real increase in room size.

All rooms are non-smoking. A step-free Universal Queen room has handrails in the bathroom and toilet for guests who need an accessible layout.

Facilities

The 25th-floor spa uses natural hot-spring water drawn from 1,000 meters underground. Large indoor and semi-open-air baths look across the city, while the sauna area has dry auto-loyly and mist rooms. Spa admission is included for overnight guests.

Day visitors can use the spa during its main afternoon and evening session. Overnight guests also have early-morning access and can stay later at night, outside the main hours for day visitors.

One floor above, a post-bath lounge serves food and drinks. Hotel guests can also use a small gym, while coin laundry on the 25th floor and a 24-hour FamilyMart on the ground floor are handy during longer stays.

Dining

Breakfast at Hokusai is a buffet with more than 70 Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. A live kitchen prepares freshly cooked items, while the Hokkaido choices include seafood bowls and soup curry. The same ground-floor space becomes a cafe later in the day.

MoonLight Hokkaido Bistro & Bar occupies the 26th floor, serving dinner and drinks with city views. It gives you an evening option in the building when you don't want to travel south to Susukino for every meal or drink.

Location and transport

The hotel is about seven minutes on foot from both the north exit of JR Sapporo Station and Exit 16 for the Namboku and Toho subway lines. JR handles New Chitose Airport trains and longer journeys around Hokkaido; the subway is simpler for central Sapporo.

The Namboku Line runs directly to Odori and Susukino, while the Toho Line covers the eastern side of the center. The distinction is easy to remember: use JR for the airport and regional journeys, and the subway for most city plans.

Airport access

JR Airport trains run directly from New Chitose Airport to Sapporo in as little as 33 minutes. After leaving the train, use the north exit for the seven-minute outdoor walk to the hotel.

There is no hotel-door airport shuttle. With heavy luggage or winter conditions, allow extra time for the final stretch rather than treating the rail journey as door-to-door access.

Why stay here

The short walk from JR keeps airport arrivals, early departures, and rail trips around Hokkaido relatively simple. You give up a direct station connection and immediate access to Susukino nightlife, but gain a high-floor hot-spring spa and dinner with a view in the same building.

For sightseeing, a day heading south can connect the Sapporo Clock Tower, Nijo Market, and Odori Park before continuing toward Susukino. The north-side location remains workable for central sights, even though evenings out are less immediate.

Good to know

For stays of three nights or longer, full room cleaning is scheduled every two days rather than daily. Fresh towels, a garbage bag, and toothbrushes are left at the door on the intervening days.
