Overview

At THE KNOT FUKUOKA Tenjin, MORETHAN's bar counter doubles as reception. The restaurant and late-running lounge share the ground floor, so guests arrive amid the hotel's social spaces rather than through a conventional lobby.

The hotel opened in April 2026 following a full renovation of the former Plaza Hotel Tenjin. It is in Daimyo, on the western side of Fukuoka-Tenjin, four minutes on foot from Exit 5 of Akasaka Station. Direct Airport Line trains connect the station with Hakata and Fukuoka Airport.

Rooms

Room choices are straightforward. Superior Semi Double rooms measure 12 square meters, Superior Queens are 15 square meters, and Superior Kings are 17 square meters. Every category has one bed, a unit bath, and capacity for no more than two guests.

These rooms are compact. The king category provides the widest bed and the most floor space, but couples who need separate beds or generous luggage room will have to look elsewhere.

Facilities

Luggage can be stored before check-in and until the end of the day after checkout. Fully automatic laundry machines on the second floor don't require detergent, a helpful detail on longer trips.

All guest rooms are non-smoking, and there's a designated smoking room on the second floor. The hotel has no parking, so drivers need to use a nearby paid lot.

Dining

MORETHAN is more than a breakfast room. From 7:00 to 10:00, breakfast pairs a choice of four main dishes with a buffet of seasonal fruit and vegetables, local cheese and ham, salads, and yogurt.

Stone-oven pizzas, pasta, and dishes prepared with ingredients from around Kyushu are served from late morning through dinner. The adjoining lounge stays open until 2:00 a.m. with regional craft beer and tap cocktails, as well as wine and sake. Late arrivals can stop for a drink without leaving the building.

Location and transport

Akasaka is the simplest station for arrival. Exit 5 is four minutes away, while Tenjin Station is one stop east and closer to the main department stores and underground shopping streets.

Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station is about ten minutes away on foot, with Nishitetsu trains toward Dazaifu, Kurume, and Yanagawa. Shinkansen services depart from Hakata Station, which is directly connected to Akasaka by the Airport Line.

Airport access

Airport Line trains run directly from Akasaka to the subway station inside Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, without a transfer at Tenjin or Hakata.

The international terminal isn't connected to the subway station. A free airport shuttle links it with the domestic terminal, so international passengers should allow time for the additional ride.

Why stay here

The four-minute walk to the subway simplifies airport arrivals and Hakata transfers, while MORETHAN covers breakfast, dinner, and a late drink without leaving the building. The tradeoff is compact rooms with one bed in every category, plus no hotel parking.

Daimyo's side streets add independent boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. Central Tenjin expands the choice with department stores, shopping malls, and yatai food stalls.
