Overview
On the north side of Izumoshi Station, Toyoko Inn Izumo-shi Ekimae is one minute from the exit on foot. Breakfast is included. The hotel is in central Izumo, while Izumo Taisha and the streets around the shrine require a separate train or bus trip.
Rooms
Standard singles have one double bed in 12 square metres, while twins provide two single beds in 15 square metres. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available, so check the category when booking. Bathrooms combine the bath and shower in a single unit.
Children of elementary-school age or younger can share an adult's bed free of charge, with one child allowed per bed. Breakfast is included for them as well. Some room categories are excluded, and extra beds aren't available.
A wheelchair-accessible room can also be booked. Contact the hotel about its layout if you have specific requirements.
Facilities
Paid coin laundry is available for longer stays. The hotel's paid multilevel car park operates on a first-come basis, but its two-metre height limit rules out taller vehicles.
Dining
The complimentary buffet breakfast runs from 6:30am to 9am. If you're leaving before service begins, you'll need to arrange breakfast separately.
Location and transport
JR Izumoshi is on the Sanin Main Line. Yakumo limited express trains connect the station with Matsue and Okayama Station, where you can transfer to the Shinkansen. Staying beside the station avoids an additional bus or taxi ride after arriving by rail.
Dentetsu Izumoshi Station is three minutes away on foot and serves the separate Ichibata railway. Trains toward Izumo Taisha run to Izumotaisha-mae, usually with a change at Kawato, followed by a walk of about ten minutes to the shrine. Buses from JR Izumoshi provide another option.
Airport access
Direct buses connect Izumo Airport with JR Izumoshi's North Exit in about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. The stop is at the station rather than the hotel, so check the timetable for your flight and allow for the short walk to reception.
Why stay here
Arriving by JR and continuing by train the next morning involves little local travel. The small rooms make this more appealing for an overnight stop than for a stay where you'll spend much time indoors.
On a day trip to Izumo Taisha, leave time for Shinmon-dori, the street leading toward the shrine. You can browse the shops and stop for soba before returning to central Izumo.
Good to know
Check-in starts at 3pm and check-out is by 10am. Let the hotel know if you'll arrive later than planned. During consecutive-night stays, full room cleaning takes place once every three days; on other days, lighter service includes fresh towels and rubbish removal.
