Overview
Via Inn Hakataguchi Ekimae is close to the Hakata Exit of Hakata Station, making arrivals and departures in Fukuoka easy to manage. The hotel is about four minutes on foot from the JR side of the station and about three minutes from West Exit 12a on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line.
This compact JR West group hotel is on the Fukuoka-Hakata side of the city. It suits travelers who need the room to support the schedule, not define the trip.
Rooms
Rooms are compact, functional, and non-smoking. Single A and Single B rooms measure 13 square meters and have 140-centimeter beds. The Double is 15 square meters with a 160-centimeter bed, while the 21-square-meter Twin adds side-by-side beds plus separate bathroom and toilet areas.
Room type makes a real difference here. Single B is the better choice if you need the larger desk by the window. The Twin or 27-square-meter Accessible Room will feel more comfortable if floor space or bathroom layout is a priority. In general, expect a straightforward place to work and sleep rather than a room designed for lingering.
Facilities
Facilities are geared toward efficient city stays. The front desk is staffed 24 hours, and the entrance is locked late at night for security. A paid drum-type washer-dryer on the second floor is the key convenience for longer or multi-stop trips.
The second floor also has vending machines, ice, a smoking corner, and a nearby lobby microwave. The front desk can assist with parcels, rental items, copy and fax service, and luggage storage on the day of check-in or check-out. Parking is limited, paid, and reservation-based, so contact the hotel in advance if you plan to drive.
Dining
Breakfast is served on the first floor at Kyushu Blessing Kozuchi from 7:00 to 10:00. Guests choose either a Japanese or Western set, with a small buffet for additional items.
It is a convenient in-house start before a train, airport transfer, or workday. For lunch and dinner, the streets around the Hakata Exit and the station's shopping complexes offer far more choice than the hotel itself.
Location and transport
The Hakata Exit location is the hotel's strongest advantage. Hakata Station is Fukuoka's Shinkansen stop and main rail hub, with JR services, subway lines, and Hakata Bus Terminal gathered in the same area.
That concentration is especially helpful on short trips. You can arrive from Fukuoka Airport, stay near the JR side, and continue onward without crossing the city. Some Shinkansen-side hotels are easier to orient from the Chikushi Exit, so check your exit before leaving the station with luggage.
Airport access
Airport access is by nearby subway or bus rather than a hotel shuttle. From Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, the Subway Airport Line reaches Hakata Station in about five minutes, followed by the short walk to the hotel.
From the international terminal, the Nishitetsu Airport Bus reaches Hakata Station in about 15 minutes. Total travel time depends on the terminal, waiting time, and how easily you find your way through Hakata Station after arrival.
Why stay here
Choose Via Inn Hakataguchi Ekimae when timing matters more than spending time in the hotel. The tradeoff is clear: you get a compact stay with breakfast, laundry, and strong transport connections, rather than a large full-service hotel.
The Hakata side also gives a short stay some local character. Hakata Old Town brings temples and old merchant history into the wider area, while Fukuoka's food culture makes an evening around Hakata, Nakasu, or Tenjin easy to plan.
Good to know
The name points to Hakataguchi, the Hakata Exit side of Hakata Station. If you arrive through another gate or from a different part of the station, check the exit before walking; the wrong direction can add unnecessary time when you have luggage.
