Overview
Whether you arrive by JR, subway, or bus, the final walk is short. Via Inn Hakataguchi Ekimae is on the Hakata Exit side of Hakata Station, about four minutes from the JR gates and Hakata Bus Terminal. Airport Line West Exit 12a is roughly three minutes away.
That position removes much of the fuss from an early train, a flight connection, or a one-night stop between journeys. The hotel keeps things straightforward, with compact rooms, breakfast downstairs, and a few everyday services rather than extensive leisure facilities.
Rooms
Both Single categories measure 13 square meters and have 140-centimeter beds. Single B is better suited to desk work because its large desk faces the window, while Single A uses a more conventional layout. The 15-square-meter Double adds a 160-centimeter bed, sofa, table, and desk.
For two guests who want separate beds, the 21-square-meter Twin is the room to compare. It has wooden flooring and a separate bathroom and toilet. The hotel also has one 27-square-meter accessible room with handrails and fewer changes in floor level, available by phone reservation. All rooms are non-smoking.
Facilities
Coin-operated washer-dryers, a microwave, vending machines, and an ice machine are on the second floor. Luggage can be held on the day of check-in and the day of checkout, which helps when train times don't line up neatly with the room schedule.
Parking is limited and paid, with advance reservations accepted by phone. Drivers should arrange it before arrival rather than assume a space will be available.
Dining
Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:00 at Kyushu Blessing Kozuchi on the first floor. Guests choose either a Japanese set with grilled mackerel or a Western morning plate, then use the mini buffet for rice, bread, salad, and other sides.
The 7:00 start may be too late for the earliest trains. Otherwise, it's an easy meal before setting out, while JR Hakata City and the streets around the Hakata Exit provide a much wider choice for lunch and dinner.
Location and transport
The exit matters. Hakata and Chikushi are opposite sides of the same large rail complex, and Shinkansen passengers may arrive closer to the Chikushi Exit. Follow signs across the concourse for the Hakata Exit before going outdoors. Leaving from the wrong side adds an unnecessary walk with luggage.
Hakata brings together the Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen, JR Kyushu trains, the Airport and Nanakuma subway lines, and local and highway buses. Staying here is less about spending time at the hotel and more about keeping those connections close.
Airport access
From Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, the Airport Line runs directly to Hakata in about five minutes. West Exit 12a gives the shorter final walk to the hotel.
The international terminal requires a different approach. Nishitetsu's Airport Bus reaches Hakata Station in about 15 minutes, excluding waiting time and the walk to the hotel. There is no hotel-operated airport shuttle.
Why stay here
An early Shinkansen, airport transfer, or bus departure is easier when the final walk is this short. The desk-focused Single B and the Twin with its separate bathroom add useful variety to the compact room selection, but guests seeking larger rooms or more time at the hotel may prefer a different style of stay.
There is local history beyond the transport hub. In Fukuoka-Hakata, Hakata Old Town has temple grounds, shrines, and older streets around places such as Tochoji Temple and Kushida Shrine, giving a train-centered visit an easy cultural detour.
Good to know
Use the Hakata Exit name when navigating rather than relying on the hotel name alone. Breakfast begins at 7:00, and luggage storage before check-in or after checkout is limited to the same day.
