Via Inn Kanazawa

Overview

Via Inn Kanazawa occupies part of Anto West within Kanazawa Station. A dedicated elevator leads from the first floor to the third-floor entrance, and indoor routes connect reception with the JR and IR Ishikawa Railway concourses.

Arrival and departure days are where this setup matters most. There's no street-level transfer after a long train ride, and buses to Komatsu Airport leave nearby from the West Exit. Kanazawa's best-known sights aren't beside the station, however, so trips to the castle, Kenrokuen Garden, and the teahouse districts usually start by bus, taxi, or on foot.

Rooms

Most rooms are compact. The 13-square-metre Single A has a desk facing the window, while the Via Inn Single uses an island desk and bench seat. The Economy Twin fits two beds into the same floor area, so pairs carrying substantial luggage may prefer the 22-square-metre Twin. That room can also accommodate a third guest with an extra bed.

Ochre and other colors associated with Kaga bring a local note to the otherwise straightforward interiors. A larger accessible room with a step-reduced layout is available by phone reservation.

Facilities

Shared facilities are modest but helpful. Third-floor coin-operated washer-dryers add detergent automatically, and there's a microwave nearby. Reception is staffed around the clock, while room cards control entry to the guest floors.

A first-floor convenience store is handy after a late arrival or before an early departure. There is no public bath or substantial guest lounge, so most options beyond the room are found elsewhere in the station complex.

Dining

The hotel doesn't have its own restaurant. Instead, guests can buy breakfast tickets at reception for use at two businesses in the station building. Hakusan Soba in Rinto opens at 6:00 a.m. with a soba or udon bowl and a rice ball, while Campagne Cucina & Bar in Anto West starts serving bread-based morning plates at 7:00 a.m.

Together, Anto, Anto West, and Rinto contain more than 100 shops and restaurants. Lunch and dinner are therefore easy to arrange without another trip into the city.

Location and transport

Indoor routes lead directly to JR services, including the Hokuriku Shinkansen, and the IR Ishikawa Railway. Hokutetsu Kanazawa Station on the Asanogawa Line is about one minute from Exit A5. The surrounding Kanazawa Station Area favors connections, shopping, and easy luggage handling over sightseeing at the doorstep.

For trips around the city, the Kanazawa Loop Bus leaves from the East Gate. Its routes serve Omicho Market, Higashi Chaya District, Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, and Nagamachi. Omicho Market is also about a 15-minute walk from the station.

Airport access

Komatsu Airport limousine buses depart from Kanazawa Station's West Exit and take about 40 minutes. The hotel entrance is about one minute from the stop, although the hotel doesn't operate a shuttle.

Outbound services are scheduled around flight departures, while most inbound buses leave shortly after domestic flights arrive. Check the timetable for your travel date, especially if the bus must connect with a reserved train.

Why stay here

The covered route between reception and the concourses eases the strain of a late arrival, an early train, or a luggage-heavy one-night stop. Longer stays also benefit from easy rail departures, although each sightseeing day begins with a bus, taxi, or walk toward the historic center.

Omicho Market is reachable on foot, and loop buses spread out toward the historic teahouse districts, castle, garden, museums, and Nagamachi. Staying at the station does mean returning by local transport rather than stepping straight into Kanazawa's historic streets at the end of the day.

Good to know

Reception is on the third floor of Anto West, not behind a street-level hotel entrance. The dedicated elevator is on the first floor near the Kanazawa Port Exit, another name for the West Exit. After midnight, guests need a room card to unlock the entrance.

Drivers use the affiliated Kanazawa Station rooftop car park rather than spaces owned by the hotel. Bring the parking ticket to reception for processing.
