Tokachi-Obihiro Airport is not connected to Obihiro Station by rail. Access is by bus or car, with buses to Obihiro Station Bus Terminal taking about 38 minutes.

For Banei horse racing, hot springs, gardens, and rural Tokachi scenery, plan on using a bus, taxi, rental car, or a separate day route rather than assuming everything is walkable from the platforms.

Tokachi is wide. Obihiro Station is a strong central starting point, but it does not place every regional sight within easy reach on foot. A rental car or carefully chosen bus route can make a major difference in what is realistic to see in one day.
