Overview

Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Terrace Hachijo PREMIER is about a two-minute walk from Kyoto Station's Hachijo East Exit on the Shinkansen side. It is a strong choice when arrival and departure logistics, airport buses, and early train starts matter more than staying in one of Kyoto's older sightseeing neighborhoods.

The hotel is close to the rail hub rather than inside it, so travelers with luggage should expect a short street-level walk. In return, the main train and bus links remain easy to reach from the same side.

Rooms

Rooms start at 18 square meters, with key options including a 20-square-meter Superior Double and twin rooms of 24 or 27 square meters. The 48-square-meter Junior Suite and Theater Room can accommodate up to four guests, while the 24-square-meter Universal Twin provides an accessible layout.

The bathroom design is a notable reason to compare this hotel with simpler business hotels nearby. Most rooms have semi-separated bathrooms, with the bathtub and toilet divided by a glass door; the Universal Twin has a unit-bath layout. Theater Rooms add a home projector and views toward the trains at Kyoto Station, giving them a more distinct character than a standard larger twin room.

Facilities

Facilities focus on the practical needs of travelers. A 24-hour convenience store on the first floor is helpful for late arrivals, early departures, snacks, and ATM needs. Coin laundry is available on the sixth floor, while vending machines, ice, and microwave facilities are on the fifth floor.

Staying guests can also use the second-floor fitness room, open from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Parking is available on the first floor with 17 spaces, but reservations are not accepted.

Dining

Breakfast is served buffet style on the first floor from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, with last entry at 9:30 AM. The spread combines Western dishes with Kyoto-inspired Japanese items, so it helps before a train journey or a morning of transfers.

Made-to-order omelets and an automatic pancake machine are among the more distinctive breakfast features. For lunch and dinner, Kyoto Station's dining floors, nearby malls, and restaurants elsewhere in the city are a better plan than relying on the hotel as a full-service dining base.

Location and transport

The Hachijo side is the key location choice here. The hotel is about two minutes on foot from the JR Hachijo East Exit and about two minutes from the south ticket gate of the Kyoto Municipal Subway.

That position favors Shinkansen arrivals, subway outings, Kintetsu connections, and highway-bus plans. It is less about historic atmosphere at the doorstep. For Gion, Higashiyama, and other classic east-side areas, plan on a cross-city transfer rather than a quick walk from the hotel.

Airport access

Airport access is handled through the Kyoto Station Area rather than a hotel-door shuttle. From Kansai International Airport, the Haruka limited express reaches Kyoto Station in about 75 minutes; from there, continue on foot through the Hachijo side.

Airport limousine buses also stop at JR Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi. Listed travel times are about 55 minutes from Osaka Itami Airport, about 88 minutes from Kansai International Airport Terminal 1, and about 103 minutes from Terminal 2, followed by the short walk to the hotel.

Why stay here

This hotel is best for travelers who want to stay close to the south side of Kyoto Station without choosing the most basic overnight option. It is especially convenient on arrival and departure days, and for small groups who will appreciate the room layouts and hotel facilities during the stay.

The surrounding area is modern and transport-oriented, but it still has plenty within reach between train trips. Nearby concourses and malls cover most meals and errands, while Kyoto Tower, Toji, and Higashi Honganji add sightseeing value when you want somewhere nearby to walk.

Good to know

Check-in starts at 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. From midnight to 6:00 AM, entry to the hotel is controlled by room key.

If your ideal Kyoto stay centers on Gion lanes, temple approaches, or riverside evening walks, this hotel involves a clear tradeoff. It is better for rail convenience and luggage handling than for old-neighborhood atmosphere.
