Overview
On the west side of Gifu's central rail district, Dormy Inn Gifu Ekimae is about eight minutes on foot from Gifu Station via a pedestrian deck and ten minutes from Meitetsu Gifu Station. It is not directly beside either station.
The sixth-floor natural hot-spring bath, complimentary late-night noodles, and breakfast with local dishes add comfort to a simple rail stop. JR services run toward Nagoya, Gero, and Takayama, while Meitetsu trains provide another route to Nagoya and selected through services to Central Japan International Airport.
Rooms
Most of the 149 rooms are compact doubles measuring 13.8 square metres. The eight Economy Singles are smaller at 12.6 square metres and don't have private showers, so guests in this category need to use the public bath.
Twin rooms provide 21 square metres for two guests, while the 28.1-square-metre Universal room is the largest option. Smoking rooms are on the tenth floor, with a separate smoking booth on the eighth floor.
Facilities
Separate men's and women's baths use hot-spring water brought from Ikeda Sakura Onsen. Each side has indoor and outdoor baths, a dry sauna, a cold bath, and an outdoor cooling area. The baths are open from 15:00 until 10:00 the following morning, although the saunas close between 1:00 and 5:00.
Laundry machines help with longer stays, and guest-room televisions display current congestion at the baths and breakfast room. Complimentary ice cream is available after bathing in the afternoon and evening, followed by a probiotic drink in the morning.
Dining
Breakfast at Restaurant Hatago runs from 6:30 to 9:30, with final entry at 9:00. The Japanese and Western buffet highlights Gifu flavours through soy-miso chicken, Mino pork stew, and Hida beef served over rice, alongside smaller dishes and cooked egg options.
From 21:30 to 23:00, guests can have a complimentary half-size soy-sauce ramen. It's especially welcome after a late arrival when you don't want to go out again for food.
Location and transport
The hotel is on the west side of the Gifu Station Area. JR Gifu carries Tokaido Main Line trains toward Nagoya and Takayama Main Line services toward Gero and Takayama. Meitetsu Gifu handles Meitetsu services toward Nagoya, Inuyama, and the airport.
Gifu Park, Mount Kinka, Kawaramachi, and the Nagara River lie beyond the immediate station district. Buses from JR Gifu and Meitetsu Gifu cover the main sightseeing route, though a taxi may be preferable when time is short or luggage makes the bus inconvenient.
Airport access
The fastest Meitetsu itinerary from Central Japan International Airport to Meitetsu Gifu takes about one hour. Some trains run through without a transfer, while others require a change, so check the current timetable before relying on a particular service.
Why stay here
An overnight soak and a breakfast featuring local dishes can ease a one-night stop before a Takayama Line departure or after arriving from Nagoya. The tradeoff is the eight-to-ten-minute walk from the stations, particularly with luggage.
For sightseeing, buses from the station area continue to Gifu Park at the foot of Mount Kinka and Kawaramachi's old merchant streets beside the Nagara River. Cormorant fishing takes place on the river during its May-to-October season.
Good to know
Tattoos are prohibited in the public bath. If that prevents you from bathing, avoid the Economy Single because it doesn't have a private shower.
From April 1, 2026, Gifu City charges an accommodation tax of 200 yen per person per night. Primary-school-age children and qualifying school trips are exempt.
Partner parking is available in the adjacent Gifu Sky Wing 37 garage. The overnight arrangement has a 2.1-metre height limit and doesn't allow vehicles to leave and re-enter on the same charge.
Gifu Castle's keep and museum are closed for renovation until late October 2027. Gifu Park and other nearby attractions remain open separately.
