Overview
Meitetsu Gifu handles Meitetsu trains toward Nagoya and Inuyama, as well as selected direct services to Central Japan International Airport. Nearby Gifu Station is the separate JR hub.
The two stations are about five minutes apart on foot. They don't share ticket gates. Check the operator before choosing a meeting point, booking a nearby hotel, or attempting a connection with luggage.
Lines and connections
The Nagoya Main Line runs south toward Meitetsu Ichinomiya, Meitetsu Nagoya, and Kanayama. Platforms 1 to 4 serve trains in the Nagoya, Kanayama, and Shin-Hashima directions, while platforms 5 and 6 handle the Kakamigahara Line toward Inuyama.
Limited express, express, and local trains all call here, but their stops and destinations vary. Check the departure board rather than relying on the service category alone, especially when traveling beyond Nagoya.
Airport access
Direct airport limited express journeys to Centrair take about 60 minutes, though not every departure continues to the airport. Confirm the destination in the current timetable before boarding.
Travel in a first-class car requires both a regular ticket and a first-class car ticket. Every car on a μSKY service is first class. On Rapid Limited Express and Limited Express trains, ordinary cars can be used with the regular fare alone.
Station area
The surrounding Gifu Station Area has restaurants, convenience stores, bus stops, and hotels around both rail stations. Daiwa Roynet Hotel Gifu is about two minutes from Meitetsu Gifu and about seven minutes from the JR station.
Changing operators means walking through the city rather than transferring inside a shared station. Allow more than the nominal five minutes if you're carrying heavy bags or don't know the route.
What's nearby
The blocks around the station are most useful for transport, meals, and accommodation. For Gifu Park and Gifu Castle, buses leave from stop 4 at Meitetsu Gifu; the ride typically takes about 14 minutes, followed by a short walk from the Gifu Park/Gifu Castle stop.
