Overview
Fukui Manten Hotel Ekimae is a minute's walk south of Fukui Station's West Exit. Shinkansen departures, local restaurants, and Dinosaur Plaza are close by, and guests can use the communal baths after a day out.
Rooms
Standard doubles measure 13 square metres. Twin rooms are 17 square metres and have two beds. All rooms are non-smoking.
Connecting rooms join two doubles through an internal door and accommodate up to four guests. Extra beds aren't available.
Facilities
The second-floor communal baths have indoor and open-air tubs filled with artificially mineralized water. The men's bath includes a high-temperature sauna, while the women's has a herbal mist sauna. Bathing hours are 15:00 to midnight and 05:00 to 10:00.
Coin-operated washing machines and dryers are available for longer stays. Guests can also heat food bought elsewhere in the shared lounge microwave.
Dining
Breakfast offers a choice of Japanese or Western set meals, with self-service bread, salad, and drinks. It runs from 06:30 to 09:30, with last orders at 09:00, and costs extra unless included in the room rate.
There's no dinner restaurant. Complimentary soy-sauce ramen is served from 21:30 to 22:30 while supplies last, and restaurants around the station are within walking distance for a full evening meal.
Location and transport
From the West Exit, turn left and walk south to reach the entrance. The hotel is in the Fukui Station Area, close to long-distance trains and local transport.
Hokuriku Shinkansen trains run directly to Kanazawa and Tokyo. Trips from Osaka, Kyoto, or Nagoya require a change at Tsuruga. Local trains and buses from Fukui serve destinations beyond the city center, so check onward timetables when arranging day trips.
Airport access
Direct Keifuku buses connect Komatsu Airport with Fukui Station's East Exit in about an hour. From the bus stop, cross through the station to the west side, then walk to the hotel.
Seats can't be reserved, and services connect with selected flights. Check the timetable against your flight and allow extra time for possible road delays.
Why stay here
Early departures and arrivals with luggage involve only a short walk from the West Exit. Standard doubles are small, but connecting rooms let a family or group stay together in two adjoining rooms.
Dinosaur Plaza is beside the West Exit. From there, walk to the surviving stone walls and moat of Fukui Castle, then continue to Yokokan Garden.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 15:00, and checkout is by 11:00. Guests with tattoos can't use the communal baths. On-site parking costs extra and is available on a first-come, first-served basis; nearby paid parking can be used when the hotel car park is full.
