Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Near Fukui Castle and Central Park, Hotel Fujita Fukui is about eight minutes on foot from Fukui Station. The fifth-floor breakfast restaurant looks out onto a courtyard.

Rooms

Standard singles measure 15 square metres. Standard twins have two beds in 21 square metres, while deluxe twins double that floor area to 42 square metres.

Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. The 60-square-metre Japanese-Western suites have both beds and a tatami area.

Facilities

Coin-operated washer-dryers are on the sixth floor. The front desk can store luggage before check-in and after checkout, letting you visit the city without carrying your bags.

Dining

Restaurant Camellia serves a breakfast buffet on the fifth floor from 06:30 to 09:30, with windows overlooking the courtyard. The selection includes roast beef over rice and soba noodles with grated radish, as well as Japanese and Western breakfast staples.

Breakfast costs extra unless it's included in your room plan.

Location and transport

The hotel is in Ote, on the city-center side of the Fukui Station Area. Use the West Exit when walking from the trains.

Fukui Station has direct Hokuriku Shinkansen services to Tokyo and Kanazawa. Rail journeys from Osaka, Kyoto, or Nagoya require a change at Tsuruga for the Shinkansen to Fukui.

Airport access

Direct Keifuku buses run between Komatsu Airport and Fukui Station's East Exit in about an hour. From there, cross through the station to the West Exit and continue to the hotel on foot or by taxi.

Services connect with selected flights, and seats can't be reserved. Check the timetable against your flight and leave extra time for traffic.

Why stay here

You can spend an afternoon around the castle and park, then collect your bags before continuing by train. If your priority is an early departure, a hotel beside the station exits would save walking time.

Fukui Castle's stone walls and moat survive, although the keep was destroyed by fire. Central Park occupies part of the former castle grounds, with broad lawns for a break during a walk around the center.

Good to know

Check-in begins at 15:00, and checkout is by 11:00. There's no communal bath or gym. Paid parking is available beneath the building and nearby, but opening hours and vehicle-height limits vary by car park.
