Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Direct Airport Line trains from Fukuoka Airport stop at Tenjin Station, a three-minute walk from HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin. From this spot in Fukuoka-Tenjin, central Tenjin's department stores and underground mall lie in one direction, while Daimyo's smaller shopping and dining streets lie in the other.

With 217 rooms, breakfast service, and guest laundry, the hotel covers the essentials for days spent exploring central Fukuoka. On-site facilities are limited, so the location carries most of the appeal.

Facilities

Four washers and four dryers are available on the first floor around the clock for a fee. They're especially handy when Fukuoka comes midway through a longer Japan trip.

Coffee machines operate from early morning until midnight, while the lobby water server is available 24 hours. A foreign-currency exchange machine adds another helpful service for arrival day.

Location and transport

Directions lead from Exit 4 of Tenjin Station or West Exit 1 of Tenjin Underground Mall. The underground passages and similarly named stations can be confusing at first, so keep those exit numbers handy when arriving with luggage.

The Airport Line is the main route for both the airport and Hakata Station. A six-minute walk away, Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station provides Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line trains south of central Fukuoka. The two stations serve different journeys.

Airport access

The direct subway ride between Tenjin and Fukuoka Airport takes about 11 minutes. For domestic flights, the subway connects to the Domestic Terminal. International passengers need to take the free inter-terminal shuttle bus, which takes about 10 minutes, so allow for that extra step before departure.

Why stay here

Flying into Fukuoka is straightforward, and the same subway line continues to Hakata for JR connections. Shinkansen trains depart from Hakata rather than Tenjin, however, so reaching them still requires a short subway ride.

Tenjin is one of Fukuoka's main shopping districts, known for its large department stores and long underground mall. Nearby Daimyo adds independent shops, restaurants, and bars, while yatai food stalls provide a distinctly Fukuoka option after dark.

Good to know

Tenjin Station, Tenjin-minami Station, and Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station are separate stops with different lines and entrances. For the hotel, follow Airport Line signs to Tenjin Station Exit 4 or Tenjin Underground Mall West Exit 1.
