Overview
On the west side of the Kamo River near Gojo Bridge, this MIMARU gives families and friends a kitchen, dining table, and enough beds to share an apartment. It's about three minutes on foot from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station. You can explore the temples across the river in the morning, then return for lunch without finding a restaurant that works for the whole group.
Rooms
The 40-square-meter Family Apartment sleeps four in two single beds and a bunk bed. Groups that prefer single beds can choose the five-single-bed apartment or the six-single-bed Deluxe Apartment, both of which avoid bunks altogether.
For more privacy, choose a two-bedroom layout. Connecting Family Apartments combine two rooms through an internal door and sleep up to eight. The Japanese Apartment has two beds and three futons on tatami, while the accessible Family Apartment has wider passageways and a bathroom designed for wheelchair users.
Facilities
Young children have a playroom on the ground floor. The gym is for guests aged 17 and over, while a shared coin laundry lets you wash clothes during a longer stay. There aren't washer-dryers inside the apartments.
Luggage storage is available on arrival and departure days between 7:00 and 22:00, subject to space. More thorough cleaning takes place every other day from the third day of the stay, excluding check-in day; towels are changed and floors vacuumed daily. Guests clean the kitchen themselves.
Dining
Every apartment has an induction stove, refrigerator, and microwave, with cookware and tableware supplied. The dining table gives you somewhere to eat breakfast before leaving or share takeaway food at the end of the day.
Location and transport
Kiyomizu-Gojo is a Keihan station across the river. Take a northbound train one stop to Gion-Shijo Station, or head south to Fushimi-Inari for the shrine. Limited express trains skip both Kiyomizu-Gojo and Fushimi-Inari, so check the stopping pattern before boarding.
The similarly named Gojo Station is on the Karasuma subway line, about nine minutes from the hotel via exit 3. From there, Kyoto Station is one stop south. This is the subway route to use for a Shinkansen departure, not the closer Keihan stop.
Airport access
From Kansai International Airport, take the Haruka express to Kyoto Station. The limousine bus from Itami Airport also reaches Kyoto Station. For the final leg, use the subway to Gojo and walk, or take a taxi from Kyoto Station if you're arriving with several bags.
Why stay here
Separate sleeping options and a kitchen make several nights together easier without organizing every meal around restaurant bookings. The subway route to the Shinkansen involves the longer walk to Gojo Station, but the nearby Keihan line runs directly to Gion and Fushimi Inari.
The Kamo River has paths for an evening walk. Across Gojo Bridge, the route to Kiyomizu-dera climbs through eastern Kyoto; allow about 25 minutes on foot from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station to the temple.
