Overview
On the east side of Hakata Station, Minn Hakata Station East has apartment-style rooms with kitchens and bunk beds for groups of four or six. The hotel is in Fukuoka-Hakata, within walking distance of regional and shinkansen trains. Reception is remote, with self-service arrival and departure.
Rooms
Both Standard categories measure 28 square metres and sleep four. The Standard 4 Beds room has four single beds, while the Standard 3 Beds room combines a single, a double and a sofa bed. Check the arrangement carefully if everyone wants a separate bed.
For six guests, the 35-square-metre Moderate room has two double beds and two singles. The 49-square-metre Deluxe provides more floor space, with three singles, a double and a sofa bed. Both categories have washer-dryers for laundry during longer stays. Bathrooms have showers rather than bathtubs.
Facilities
Check-in and check-out are self-service, and rooms use smart locks. Remote support is available around the clock if you need help with arrival or during your stay. Free Wi-Fi is provided, along with a self-service luggage storage area for bags before check-in or after departure.
Dining
Each kitchen has an induction stove, cookware, a microwave and a fridge-freezer, so you can prepare breakfast or a simple evening meal instead of eating out every day. Bring your own seasonings.
For meals out, JR Hakata City has restaurants and cafes alongside shops selling food to take away.
Location and transport
Hakata Station is about nine minutes away on foot from the JR Chikushi Exit, while subway East Exit 5 is a seven-minute walk. Regional trains and the Sanyo and Kyushu shinkansen depart from Hakata. The Airport and Nanakuma subway lines serve trips within Fukuoka.
Higashi-Hie Station's Exit 1 is six minutes away on foot. It serves the Airport Line and is the closer option for a subway trip to the airport.
Airport access
From Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, take the Airport Line one stop to Higashi-Hie. The train ride takes about three minutes, followed by the walk to the hotel. Allow extra time to reach the platform, wait for a train and complete the final walk.
International arrivals first need to take the free shuttle bus to the domestic terminal. The international terminal isn't directly connected to the railway, so the short subway ride is only one part of the journey.
Why stay here
You can walk to Hakata's JR services before or after a wider rail trip through Kyushu. Kitchens and group rooms suit families or friends traveling together, provided you're comfortable with self-service check-in and limited housekeeping.
At JR Hakata City, you can combine shopping or a meal with a visit to the Tsubame No Mori Hiroba rooftop garden. Its greenery and city views provide an outdoor break near the station without another train journey.
Good to know
