Overview
Rooms begin on Act Tower's 32nd floor. Okura Act City Hotel Hamamatsu occupies floors 32 to 44 of the Act City complex in Central Hamamatsu, with all 322 rooms above the downtown streets. A covered passage leads from Hamamatsu Station's May One East Exit to the tower in about three minutes.
Rooms
All rooms have been non-smoking since January 2026. The choice covers singles, doubles, twins, and suites, while connecting twin rooms can accommodate groups of four to six. Floors 35 and 36 were renovated in spring 2026.
Standard twin rooms vary noticeably by floor and category, ranging from 23 to 35 square meters. Deluxe twins measure 50 square meters, and suites start at 88 square meters. Room direction also matters: north-facing rooms look toward Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps, while south-facing rooms look toward the Enshu Sea. If the scenery is central to your booking, confirm the orientation rather than assuming every room faces the same landmark.
Facilities
Conference and banquet rooms occupy several levels, including upper-floor spaces with city views. They range from rooms for small meetings to venues for large receptions, and guests attending an event at the hotel don't need to make a separate journey across town.
The wider Act City complex contains the main concert halls and congress center. The Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments is in another part of the same complex, and parking is available for roughly 350 cars.
Dining
Breakfast begins at 6:30 am in Figaro, leaving time to eat before many morning train departures. Lunch and dinner choices include a Chinese restaurant and more intimate counter dining upstairs. The cafe and lounge are better suited to coffee, a light stop, or evening drinks.
Opening days and hours vary between venues. Plan ahead if a particular meal matters.
Location and transport
The covered passage is the main transport advantage. Hamamatsu Station serves selected Hikari and Kodama trains on the Tokaido Shinkansen, while Nozomi services pass through without stopping. The JR Tokaido Main Line handles regional trips toward Toyohashi and Shizuoka.
Shin-Hamamatsu Station is nearby but separate from the JR station. Use it for Enshu Railway services north through the city. Buses from the JR station area are the better option for places such as Hamamatsu Castle and Lake Hamana.
Why stay here
After a Shinkansen arrival, the short covered passage keeps luggage handling simple. Staying in the same complex as concert and meeting venues removes an extra cross-town trip when an Act City event sets the schedule. High-floor rooms and full-service dining make it easy to remain in the tower between engagements.
The Museum of Musical Instruments is within Act City, while May One adds station-side shopping and places to eat. Hamamatsu Castle and Lake Hamana are outside the immediate walking area, so plan a bus ride or separate outing for those parts of the city.
Good to know
The May One East Exit gate used for the shortest passage is open from 6:00 am to 9:15 pm. Outside those hours, use the ground-floor Shinkansen exit and follow the alternate route to Act City.
The former health club closed at the end of 2024. Restaurant schedules also vary by venue and day, so check current hours when on-site dinner is important.
