Overview
Step out of Hakodate Station and Premier Hotel -CABIN PRESIDENT- Hakodate is about a minute away on foot. The nearby tram and airport-bus stops simplify sightseeing and flight connections, while Hakodate Morning Market is equally close for an early seafood breakfast.
Transport is the main advantage here. Upper-floor rooms and a 13th-floor bar add city views to a stay otherwise geared toward exploring Hakodate.
Rooms
Single rooms measure 15 square meters, doubles 18, and standard twins 24. The twin layout can accommodate a third guest on a sofa bed. If you're sharing the room with several bags, it's worth weighing the extra space in a twin before booking.
Premier rooms occupy the upper floors. Night View Twin rooms measure 26 square meters, while the Night View Suite provides 46 square meters. Book a named view category if the outlook matters to you. All rooms are non-smoking.
Facilities
A fourth-floor laundromat is helpful during a longer journey through Hokkaido. Massage and other treatments are available in a relaxation room on the same floor, but this is a treatment facility rather than a communal bath.
Welcome drinks are served in the lobby during the afternoon and early evening. There's also a guest microwave on the seventh floor for simple food brought back to the hotel.
Dining
The second-floor breakfast buffet combines Hokkaido seafood and seasonal ingredients with Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. Service begins at 6:30am, leaving time to eat before many onward journeys. Check whether breakfast is included in your room plan.
The bar overlooks the city from the 13th floor. Its drinks include Hokkaido sake, and sweets and light meals are also available, giving guests an easy option for an evening drink without heading out again.
Location and transport
Hakodate Ekimae tram stop and the station bus terminal are each about a minute's walk from the hotel. Trams serve major sightseeing districts such as Motomachi and the bay area, while the railway station handles journeys beyond central Hakodate.
Hokkaido Shinkansen passengers need to change at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station for the Hakodate Liner to Hakodate Station. Bullet trains don't reach the city-center station, so allow time for the connecting service on arrival and departure days.
Airport access
Public airport shuttle buses run between Hakodate Airport and the stop outside Hakodate Station, with a scheduled journey of about 20 minutes. The hotel is a short walk from the stop. The bus doesn't call at the hotel door.
Why stay here
Being one minute from the station shortens the final walk after a train or airport-bus journey and leaves more of a brief visit free for sightseeing. It also helps on departure day, when there's no need to cross the city simply to reach your transport.
Hakodate Morning Market is close enough for an early visit before the rest of the day's plans. Seafood restaurants stand among stalls selling fresh fish, fruit, and other Hokkaido produce. Go in the morning, as many businesses finish by early afternoon and individual hours vary.
