Overview
A five-minute walk from Nagoya Station on the Taikodori side leads to a hotel shaped by the romance of overnight rail travel. R Hotel Nagoya Station opened on August 1, 2026, with 79 rooms designed to recall sleeper compartments and two guest lounges inspired by station concourses and platforms.
The concept is unusually specific. All rooms are non-smoking singles or doubles, so there are no layouts for larger groups, but the lounges provide more shared space than a room-only business hotel.
Rooms
The choice is simple: Standard Single and Standard Double are the only room types. That keeps the layouts straightforward for solo guests and couples.
Rail details are integrated into the design rather than presented as loose memorabilia. Sleeping areas draw on overnight train compartments, while the window framing recalls the view from a carriage.
Facilities
The Front & Lounge doubles as an informal workspace and serves complimentary coffee from Nagoya roaster TRUNK COFFEE during set service periods. A separate guest-only Platform Lounge has a large-screen projector and a library curated with NAgoya BOOK CENTER. Its shelves cover Nagoya, Aichi, railways, architecture, design, and travel.
Coin laundry and water dispensers are helpful on longer trips. Both lounges also give guests somewhere to work, read, or wait outside their rooms.
Location and transport
JR Nagoya Station and the Tokaido Shinkansen are about five minutes away on foot. Meitetsu Nagoya is about nine minutes away, Kintetsu Nagoya about ten minutes, and Taiko-dori subway station about seven minutes from the hotel. These operators occupy different parts of the station district, so transfers with luggage may take extra time.
JR covers Shinkansen and regional rail trips, while Meitetsu provides the most straightforward airport route. The subway serves central Nagoya stops such as Fushimi and Sakae. The hotel isn't directly connected to the station.
Airport access
Direct trains to Chubu Centrair International Airport leave from Meitetsu Nagoya, about a nine-minute walk from the hotel. The fastest Mu-Sky services take as little as 28 minutes once aboard and require both a regular fare ticket and a first-class car ticket.
Allow for the street-level walk when carrying luggage. Other Meitetsu airport services are also direct, although they take longer than Mu-Sky.
Why stay here
The short walk to JR and Shinkansen services helps with Nagoya stopovers, business visits, and early rail departures. Two lounges add workspace beyond the compact rooms, and the railway theme feels closely connected to the journey. The tradeoff is a limited choice of room layouts and no direct station connection.
On the Taikodori side, Nagoya Umaimon-dori serves local dishes and sells takeaway food and souvenirs from breakfast into the evening. The wider Nagoya Station Area adds department stores, underground shopping, and transport connections across the city.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, final check-in is at 10:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM. The entrance is locked from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM, but registered guests can enter with their room key card.
The published five-minute walk refers to JR Nagoya Station. Actual walking time can vary across the large station complex, particularly when arriving through the Meitetsu or Kintetsu areas.
