Overview
Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin is closed for renovation through December 23, 2026. Its entrance is about a three-minute walk from both Tenjin-minami Station and Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station. The Nanakuma Line runs directly from Tenjin-minami to Hakata Station, while Nishitetsu trains serve destinations south of the city. Tenjin Station is about ten minutes away for Airport Line services.
The department stores and underground mall of Fukuoka-Tenjin are close by, along with the restaurants and shops of Watanabe-dori. Hakata is a quick subway trip from Tenjin-minami. Reaching Fukuoka Airport without changing trains, however, requires the longer walk to Tenjin Station.
Rooms
Rooms offered for the reopening include a 48-square-meter suite for two. Check the bed layout and occupancy on the new room plan before booking, as the renovated rooms differ from the old ones.
Dining
Breakfast-inclusive rates are available for stays after reopening. Node Table, the first-floor restaurant, will serve a Japanese and Western buffet featuring dishes from Kyushu.
Location and transport
For the shortest walk from Tenjin-minami, follow signs for West 12-C, which is different from Exit 12. The south exit of Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station is also about three minutes away. Its adjoining rail and bus complex is convenient for Nishitetsu journeys and expressway buses.
Tenjin Chikagai connects much of the district below street level. Nishitetsu trains run toward southern Fukuoka, with connections for Dazaifu, while the Nanakuma Line goes directly from Tenjin-minami to Hakata.
Airport access
Direct subway service to Fukuoka Airport uses the Airport Line from Tenjin Station, about ten minutes away on foot. Alternatively, take the Nanakuma Line from Tenjin-minami to Hakata and transfer to the Airport Line there. With luggage, the choice is between a longer walk and a direct train, or a shorter walk followed by one transfer.
Why stay here
Downtown shopping, Tenjin dining, and Nishitetsu trips south of central Fukuoka are the main reasons to stay here. Direct Nanakuma Line trains also keep Hakata convenient for Shinkansen connections.
For an airport-focused or Shinkansen-heavy itinerary, staying around Hakata is simpler. Tenjin has the advantage when you want department stores, restaurants, and evening plans within walking distance.
Good to know
Reservations reopened in September for arrivals from December 24, 2026. The renovation affects the entire hotel, so overnight stays aren't available before that date.
