Overview
THE BLOSSOM KUMAMOTO is located on the upper floors of the JR Kumamoto Station Building, directly above AMU PLAZA KUMAMOTO in the Kumamoto Station Area. It works especially well for travelers who want the Shinkansen close at hand, shops and restaurants downstairs, convenient airport-bus transfers, and an easy first or final night in Kumamoto.
The tradeoff is the neighborhood. This is a station-complex hotel rather than a castle-side or downtown stay, so most sightseeing days begin with a short local ride.
Rooms
Guest rooms are on the 9th to 12th floors and are arranged around the hotel's courtyard. Many have views toward Kumamoto city, the Aso Mountains, Mt. Kinbou, or the Ariake Sea in the distance, giving the stay more height and outlook than a typical station-front business hotel.
Room choices range from compact doubles and twins to rooms with tatami space, universal rooms, premium rooms, and a large suite. The variety makes it easier for couples, friends, and small groups to choose a comfortable layout without leaving the station complex.
Facilities
The facilities are geared toward unwinding after travel. A large public bath looks onto a garden setting, while the fitness room has basic exercise machines and natural light from a skylight.
Laundry facilities and vending machines add convenience during a longer Kyushu itinerary. The building below is also part of the appeal, with meals, shopping, and quick errands close by.
Dining
Senzan Bansui serves a buffet-style breakfast featuring ingredients from Kumamoto and other parts of Kyushu, then continues through lunch, dinner, and bar time. The dining room overlooks Kumamoto city, the hotel courtyard, and Mt. Aso in the distance.
Having an in-house restaurant is helpful on arrival nights, rainy mornings, and early departure days, while the wider station complex adds more dining options just downstairs.
Location and transport
The hotel is next to Kumamoto Station, less than a minute on foot from the Shirakawa Exit side. That makes it convenient for Kyushu Shinkansen arrivals, early departures, and onward rail travel around the region.
For sightseeing, plan to use local transport from the station area. Kumamoto Castle, downtown dining, and Suizenji Jojuen Garden are not immediately beside the hotel, so this is better for transport convenience than for stepping straight into the main sightseeing core.
Airport access
Access to Aso Kumamoto Airport is by airport limousine bus to the Kumamoto Station area rather than by direct rail. The trip is about 60 minutes, making the hotel a straightforward airport-bus and rail transfer choice when the schedule fits.
Why stay here
Choose THE BLOSSOM KUMAMOTO if rail timing and airport-bus connections matter more than a downtown address, but you still want a polished upper-floor room, a public bath, and AMU PLAZA KUMAMOTO directly below. It is strongest for rail-focused arrivals and departures, rather than for travelers who want to stay in the castle and downtown area.
Good to know
The hotel is excellent for transport access and station amenities, but Kumamoto's main sightseeing areas are elsewhere. Allow time for local transport when visiting the castle, downtown food streets, or Suizenji Jojuen Garden.
