Overview

Washington R&B Hotel Kyoto Station Hachijoguchi is about a three-minute walk from Kyoto Station's Hachijo East Exit. It works best for travelers who want arrivals, departures, day trips, airport transfers, and luggage handling to be as simple as possible.

This is a compact business-hotel stay rather than a destination hotel. Its appeal is the Hachijo-side location: close to the platforms, especially for rail-focused travel, while being in the quieter blocks south of the main concourse. For first nights, last nights, and short Kyoto stays built around train travel, that convenience can matter more than extra lounge space or a historic neighborhood feel.

Rooms

The hotel completed a full room renewal in April 2025. Accommodations include renewed singles, twins, and connecting rooms that link a twin and a single room through an internal door. Singles are compact and straightforward, while the twin and connecting layouts give couples, families, and small groups more usable space.

Rooms are set up for comfortable short stays, with Airweave mattresses throughout the property, internet access by Wi-Fi or wired connection, and smart TVs as part of the renovated design. Some plans also include ReFa shower heads and dryers for a slightly upgraded version of the basic R&B format.

Facilities

Shared facilities are designed around arrival, departure, and everyday travel needs. On the first floor, guests will find the front desk, lobby seating, breakfast area, amenity corner, smoking booth, and luggage storage using IC lockers and a baggage port. The luggage setup is especially helpful near Kyoto Station, letting guests check out and still spend time around the station before an onward train.

A coin laundry is available on the sixth floor, with vending machines nearby and detergent included in the washer-dryer setup. The hotel also offers welcome coffee in the breakfast corner, parcel handling, and paid copy and fax services at the front desk.

Dining

Breakfast is served buffet style in the first-floor breakfast area from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The spread centers on bread baked in-house, with morning curry, salad, organic granola, seasoned boiled eggs, yogurt, soup, and drinks.

For guests leaving early from Kyoto Station, the convenience of eating in the building is the real advantage. The station has plenty of dining options, but breakfast at the hotel avoids a search through the concourse before a train or day trip.

Location and transport

The hotel is in the Kyoto Station Area, using the Hachijo side as its main transport anchor. This side is convenient for the Shinkansen gates, Kintetsu services, airport buses, highway buses, and many station-area hotels. The wider station complex also connects with JR local lines, the Karasuma subway line, taxis, shopping, and dining.

The surrounding blocks are more functional than scenic. That tradeoff works well for travelers who want to arrive, drop bags, and keep moving, but it is less suited to those hoping for evening walks in Gion, Higashiyama, or older Kyoto streets right outside the door.

Airport access

Airport access is through Kyoto Station rather than a hotel-door shuttle. From Kansai International Airport, the Haruka limited express runs to Kyoto Station, followed by the short walk to the Hachijo side. Airport buses also serve the station area, making the hotel convenient when the beginning or end of the trip depends on station-based airport transport.

Why stay here

Choose Washington R&B Hotel Kyoto Station Hachijoguchi when easy Kyoto Station logistics matter most. It is particularly well suited to Shinkansen arrivals, early departures, Kansai Airport connections, day trips, and luggage-heavy travel. The practical advantages are clear: a three-minute walk on the Hachijo side, renewed rooms, breakfast, lockers, laundry, and a price-conscious business-hotel format.

Good to know

The hotel is close to Kyoto Station, but it is not inside the station building. When arriving by train, follow signs for the Hachijo East Exit; coming out on the wrong side of Kyoto Station can turn a short walk into a much longer one with luggage.
