Overview
About three minutes on foot from Kyoto Station's Hachijo East Exit, Washington R&B Hotel Kyoto Station Hachijoguchi is close to the Tokaido Shinkansen gates, Kintetsu trains, and buses on the Hachijo side. The hotel is not inside the station.
Renovated rooms cover solo travelers, pairs, and groups, while a paid breakfast buffet and luggage lockers help on early departure and checkout days. Gion and Higashiyama are not within an easy walk, so sightseeing there requires a bus, taxi, or rail connection.
Rooms
Every guest room was renovated by April 2025. The 11-square-meter single fits a wide desk, sofa, and smart TV into a compact layout suited to one traveler with modest luggage.
Twin rooms measure 22.5 square meters and have two beds that can be pushed together, plus a bathroom separated from the toilet. Connecting rooms join a twin and a single through an internal door, allowing three travelers to share one booking while retaining separate sleeping areas.
Airweave mattresses are standard throughout. ReFa shower heads and hair dryers appear only in selected categories, so compare bed arrangements, floor space, and bathroom layouts before booking.
Facilities
First-floor IC-card lockers and a separate storage point can hold bags after checkout. This leaves the final hours free for sightseeing before an evening train, without carrying bags around Kyoto.
Washer-dryers on the sixth floor dispense detergent automatically. Complimentary lobby coffee is available from 15:00 until midnight, covering the period between afternoon check-in and a late return.
Dining
The paid breakfast buffet runs from 6:30 to 9:30 on the first floor. Bread baked at the hotel and morning curry are the main items, with salad, granola, and drinks available for a lighter meal.
Breakfast before departure can save a search for food while carrying luggage. For lunch and dinner, the station complex has many more restaurants and food counters, though the shortest route depends on where they are within the large building.
Location and transport
The Kyoto Station Area works well for itineraries centered on rail travel. JR's Nara Line runs directly to Fushimi Inari, while the Sagano Line heads toward the Arashiyama side of Kyoto. Toji is about 15 minutes away on foot.
Use Hachijo East Exit when walking to the hotel. The Central Exit opens on the station's north side near Kyoto Tower, and taking it adds a long indoor crossing before the final walk.
Airport access
The Haruka limited express connects Kansai International Airport directly with Kyoto Station. From the platform, follow signs through the station to Hachijo East Exit for the short outdoor walk to the hotel.
There is no hotel-door airport shuttle. Although the train journey is direct, changing floors and crossing Kyoto Station can still take time with large bags.
Why stay here
An early Shinkansen departure, direct airport train, or rail day trip is easier to manage from this side of Kyoto Station than from a historic neighborhood farther away. Twin and connecting rooms also give couples and small groups more flexibility than a room lineup focused solely on compact singles.
Post-checkout luggage storage is another clear advantage on travel days. You can leave your bags, spend a few more hours in Kyoto, and return shortly before your train.
Good to know
Single rooms are compact at 11 square meters. Breakfast costs extra, and checkout is at 10:00.
Keep the exit name handy: Hachijo East. Kyoto Station is large enough that following signs to the wrong side can add a substantial walk.
