Heiwa Real Estate and Hilton have agreed to develop Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, with an opening targeted for Japan’s 2029 fiscal year. The project will mark the first Japanese property for Hilton’s Motto by Hilton lifestyle brand.
The planned ten-story hotel will contain 108 guest rooms. Current plans also include an all-day dining restaurant and a lounge with an open terrace. Heiwa Real Estate is the project owner, while Hilton will operate the hotel.
The development site covers approximately 580 square meters, with the completed building expected to provide about 4,300 square meters of total floor space. The plans remain provisional and may change through further design work and consultations with administrative authorities.
The hotel will be located at 54 Tsukihokocho, east of Shinmachi on Shijo-dori, in Kyoto’s Shimogyo Ward. The site is approximately a two-minute walk from both Shijo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line and Karasuma Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line.
Nishiki Market, Shijo Kawaramachi, and the Gion and Higashiyama districts are accessible from the site. The property is being planned for both leisure and business stays.
Motto by Hilton properties use locally influenced design, dining, and shared social areas. The brand also allows travelers to confirm connecting rooms during the booking process. Including another Hilton property already planned for Kyoto, the new hotel is expected to become the company’s seventh hotel in the city.
