Overview
Arita Station is the main limited express stop for the porcelain town of Arita in Saga Prefecture. JR services from Fukuoka meet Matsuura Railway trains to Imari here, so both towns can be combined in the same rail itinerary.

Lines and connections
The JR Sasebo Line serves Arita. Midori limited express trains run directly from Hakata Station to Arita in roughly 80 to 90 minutes, depending on the service, before continuing toward Sasebo.
Matsuura Railway's Nishi-Kyushu Line provides the connection to Imari. It's a separate operator from JR, so check ticket or rail-pass coverage before transferring.

Airport access
From Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, take the subway to Hakata and change to a JR limited express for Arita. International arrivals can use the free terminal shuttle to reach the subway. There isn't a direct airport train to Arita, so allow time for the transfer at Hakata.
Station area
Small inns and guesthouses are within walking distance in the Arita Station Area. Many kilns and ceramics shops are farther across town, so check their locations before setting out.
What's nearby
The Kyushu Ceramic Museum is about twelve minutes away on foot, with an uphill approach. Its displays cover pottery and porcelain from across Kyushu.
Good to know
Kami-Arita is a different station. The historic Uchiyama streets extend between the two stations, so check which stop is closer to the shop or workshop you plan to visit.
