What this station is useful for

Overview

Higobashi Station is an Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line station on the south side of Osaka-Nakanoshima. It serves the Festival City and Festival Tower side of Nakanoshima, along with nearby offices, museums, cultural venues, and hotel blocks around Watanabebashi.

Lines and connections

The station is Y12 on the Yotsubashi Line, between Nishi-Umeda and Honmachi Station. For visitors, the line is a useful north-south subway route on the west side of central Osaka, running north toward Nishi-Umeda and south toward Honmachi, Yotsubashi, Namba, and Suminoekoen.

Osaka Metro lists a Keihan Line transfer route at Higobashi. In practice, Watanabebashi Station is the main nearby Keihan Nakanoshima Line station for the island side of the district, while Higobashi is the Osaka Metro option. Together, the two stations serve Nakanoshima hotels, offices, museums, and event venues.

Station area

Higobashi is convenient for the Nakanoshima Festival Tower and Festival City area. Osaka Metro station information includes barrier-free routes, including an elevator route through Festival City, making the station a practical reference point for travelers heading to the south side of Nakanoshima with luggage or accessibility needs.

The surrounding area is shaped more by business, culture, and the riverside than by a typical retail station district. Nakanoshima is located between the Dojima and Tosabori rivers and is known for offices, museums, civic buildings, event spaces, restaurants, cafes, and high-rise hotels.

What's nearby

From Higobashi, visitors are close to Festival Hall and the Festival Tower area, Nakanoshima Museum of Art, nearby riverfront walks, and the hotel towers around Watanabebashi. Conrad Osaka is directly connected to Watanabebashi Station rather than Higobashi, so check the exact station and entrance before choosing your route.

Good to know

Higobashi is not a major interchange like Umeda, Namba, or Honmachi. Use it when your destination is in the Nakanoshima or Festival City area, or along the west-side Yotsubashi Line corridor. Choose Watanabebashi when the Keihan Nakanoshima Line or a direct connection to Conrad Osaka is more important.
