Overview
Festival City has two rail approaches. Higobashi is the Osaka Metro option, with Exit 4 leading directly into the complex from the Yotsubashi Line. Watanabebashi Station serves the same destination on the Keihan Nakanoshima Line. The stations don't share gates or platforms.
From Nishi-Umeda, Hommachi, Yotsubashi, or Namba, Higobashi keeps the trip on a single Osaka Metro line. Travelers already using Keihan can continue to Watanabebashi rather than change networks solely for the final approach.
Lines and connections
Higobashi is Y12, one stop south of Nishi-Umeda and one stop north of Hommachi Station. Southbound trains continue through Yotsubashi and Namba toward Suminoekoen.
Transferring to Keihan involves separate stations around Festival City. Allow time to leave the Osaka Metro gates, follow signs to Watanabebashi, and enter the Keihan network.
Station area
Higobashi is just south of the Tosabori River, across from the central part of Osaka-Nakanoshima. Exit 4 enters Festival City, where Festival Hall and Festival Plaza share a two-tower complex with offices, a hotel, and an art museum.
A step-free route runs from the platforms through the north gate to an elevator inside Festival City. Other barrier-free routes emerge through separate office buildings, so check the station map when you need a particular street exit.
What's nearby
Festival Hall connects directly to Exit 4, while Festival Plaza has restaurants and shops between the two towers. Concertgoers can wait or eat without returning to the street. Conrad Osaka occupies the upper floors of Festival Tower West. Watanabebashi provides the hotel's direct station connection, though Higobashi reaches the same complex.
The National Museum of Art, Osaka and Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka are both about ten minutes west on foot from Higobashi. From Watanabebashi, allow about five minutes. That shorter walk can matter on a museum-focused visit.
Good to know
Higobashi isn't the nearest stop for every part of Nakanoshima. Yodoyabashi or Naniwabashi is generally closer to Nakanoshima Park and Osaka City Central Public Hall at the island's eastern end. Higobashi aligns more closely with Festival City and the central-to-western cultural venues.
Check the building and exit before setting out, especially with luggage or when arriving for a timed performance.
