Overview
One stop north of Tokyo Station, Kanda Station serves the restaurants, offices, and hotels of Tokyo-Kanda. It is located between Tokyo and Akihabara on the Yamanote Line, with JR routes running north, south, and west across the city and the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line underground.
Kanda isn't a Shinkansen stop. Staying nearby gives you local rail and subway connections, with the Shinkansen platforms at Tokyo Station one short train ride away.
Lines and connections
The Yamanote Line connects Kanda with Ueno and Shinagawa, while Tokyo and Akihabara are the adjacent stops. Keihin-Tohoku Line trains also call here. For Shinjuku, the Chuo Rapid Line crosses central Tokyo more directly than following the Yamanote loop around the city.
Kanda is G13 on the Ginza Line, which provides direct trains to Ginza and Asakusa. The JR and subway sections have separate ticket gates, so follow the Ginza Line or JR signs when changing operators rather than looking for another platform within the same paid area.
