Overview
Manga illustrations of sumo wrestlers, bathhouses, and moon-viewing scenes give HOTEL TAVINOS Kyoto its playful character. Near the Kawaramachi Gojo intersection, it's about three minutes on foot from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station. From here, you can walk north toward downtown shops or take the Keihan Line to sights on Kyoto's eastern side.
Rooms are compact. The shared lounge provides extra space to have a drink or plan the next day's route, while complimentary morning bread and a ground-floor convenience store cover a simple start before heading out.
Rooms
The 15-square-metre Hollywood Twin has two single beds placed side by side. Under-bed luggage storage helps keep the floor clear, and a low table with floor cushions creates a small sitting area. Most rooms have shower booths rather than bathtubs.
Groups of three can choose the Triple, with three separate single beds, or the Economy Triple, which uses a bunk bed and sofa bed. The Economy Triple has no refrigerator. Connecting rooms combine these two layouts and accommodate up to six people, so check the bed arrangement as well as the total capacity.
The 29-square-metre Universal Twin is the exception to the shower-only layout, with an accessible design and a bathtub. All rooms are non-smoking.
Facilities
The lounge has Wi-Fi, power outlets, and USB ports, giving guests room to use a laptop outside their bedroom. Washers and dryers are available, and you can check whether they're in use on the room television.
Free self-service baggage storage is available on arrival and departure days, but bags must be collected on the day of check-out. The system uses an IC travel card; ask the front desk for help if you don't have one.
Dining
Bread is provided in the lounge from 6:30 to 10:00 a.m., or until supplies run out, while drinks remain available until midnight. It's a light breakfast rather than a cooked buffet, and the convenience store downstairs is available for additional food.
Location and transport
Exit 3 at Kiyomizu-Gojo Station is the closest rail approach. The Keihan Line runs one stop north to Gion-Shijo Station and south toward Fushimi Inari Station. Local trains stop at both.
Gojo Station on the Karasuma subway line is a separate station, about seven minutes away on foot. It's one stop from Kyoto Station and provides the more direct connection to intercity trains. Kyoto Kawaramachi Station, roughly ten minutes away on foot, serves the Hankyu Kyoto Line toward Osaka.
Airport access
From Kansai International Airport, take the Haruka limited express to Kyoto Station, then ride the Karasuma Line one stop to Gojo Station and walk to the hotel. From Itami Airport, the airport limousine bus reaches Kyoto Station, where the same subway connection is available.
If you're carrying large bags, a taxi from Kyoto Station avoids the final subway ride and walk.
Why stay here
Keihan access and a walkable downtown location make it easy to combine train-based sightseeing with time around Kawaramachi. Small groups can choose between triple and connecting rooms, while laundry facilities and departure-day baggage storage help on longer itineraries.
Nishiki Market is about a 15-minute walk away. Its covered shopping street has stalls selling fish, vegetables, tofu products, and prepared foods. Purchases should be eaten at the shop or in its designated eating area rather than while walking through the market.
Good to know
Self-service check-in and check-out machines accept cashless payments only. If you're arriving after midnight, contact the hotel in advance; guests who have already checked in can use their room key to open the entrance overnight.
