What the area is known for

The district centers on Osaka-Uehommachi Station and Kintetsu Department Store Uehommachi. Kintetsu trains run west toward Osaka-Namba and east toward Nara, with other routes continuing to Mie and Nagoya. Direct limousine buses serve both Kansai International and Osaka Itami airports.

Main places

This is also one of Osaka's oldest settled areas. Takatsu Park and Kozugu Shrine are near Tanimachi 9-chome, while Shitennoji and Osaka International House add historical and cultural interest beyond the station complex.

Stations and access

Osaka-Uehommachi Station is the main Kintetsu terminal and the better choice for Nara-bound trains. About five minutes away on foot, Tanimachi 9-chome Station adds the Osaka Metro Tanimachi and Sennichimae lines for travel toward Higashi-Umeda, Tennoji, Nippombashi, and Namba.

Uehommachi fits trips built around Kintetsu day excursions, direct airport buses, or a central location with both private railway and subway connections. Namba remains the stronger choice when late-night dining and immediate access to Minami entertainment take priority.

Good to know

Osaka-Uehommachi and Tanimachi 9-chome are separate stations. Their underground transfer takes several minutes, so check which operator serves your route before choosing an entrance.
