Tsuruga Station Area

Overview

Hotels, restaurants, and bus stops are located in the city-center blocks outside Tsuruga Station's West Exit. Stay here if you want to remain close to the trains while still being able to walk into town between journeys.

Main places

Tsuruga Polt Square Otta is beside the station forecourt. Its restaurants and shops provide places to eat and buy local food, while Chienamiki combines a two-story bookshop with a cafe. You can stop here without traveling into the center.

Hotel Granbinario Tsuruga is a one-minute walk from the West Exit. Beyond the immediate hotel blocks, covered shopping streets lead toward Kehi Jingu Shrine, about 18 minutes on foot from the station.

Stations and access

Use the Machinami Exit, also known as the West Exit, for Otta and the shopping streets. If you're arriving by Shinkansen, allow time to walk through the station before reaching this side. The one-minute walk to the hotel begins at the exit, not the platform.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen serves Fukui, Kanazawa, and Tokyo. Thunderbird limited express trains run toward Kyoto and Osaka, while Shirasagi services connect Tsuruga with Maibara and Nagoya.

Where it fits in a trip

For a stop between rail journeys, you can have a meal near the West Exit or visit Kehi Jingu if you have time for the walk. The port museums aren't beside the station. For a longer sightseeing visit, continue beyond Kehi Jingu toward the Kanegasaki waterfront or use a sightseeing bus.
