What this station is useful for

Overview

Akasaka-mitsuke Station is a Tokyo Metro station on the edge of Akasaka and Nagatacho in central Tokyo. It is one of the most practical subway options for the western side of Tokyo-Akasaka, especially for trips using the Ginza Line, the Marunouchi Line, or the connected Nagatacho station complex.

Lines and connections

The station is served by the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line as G05 and the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line as M13. The Ginza Line runs toward Shibuya in one direction and Asakusa in the other. The Marunouchi Line runs toward Ogikubo and Ikebukuro, passing major central stops such as Shinjuku, Ginza, Tokyo Station, and Otemachi.

Akasaka-mitsuke is also connected to Nagatacho Station within the broader transfer complex. That link adds access to the Yurakucho, Hanzomon, and Namboku lines, though route searches may list Nagatacho separately depending on the line and transfer path.

Station area

Use Akasaka-mitsuke when your destination is around Akasaka-mitsuke, Nagatacho, or the upper Akasaka side of the district, or when the Ginza or Marunouchi Line offers the simpler route. For some hotels and offices, it can be a better arrival station than Tokyo Akasaka Station, even though both serve the broader Akasaka area.

Tameike-sanno Station is a separate option on the eastern side of Akasaka, with access to the Ginza and Namboku lines. In practice, the best station for Akasaka often depends less on the district name and more on the exact street, hotel entrance, or subway line you plan to use.

What's nearby

The surrounding area includes hotels, restaurants, offices, and streets leading toward government-side Nagatacho and Kioicho. Broader Akasaka attractions include the State Guest House Akasaka Palace, Hie Shrine, Akasaka Hikawa Shrine, Toyokawa Inari Tokyo Betsuin, and Akasaka Sacas, although some may be closer to another Akasaka-area station depending on your route.

Good to know

Akasaka-mitsuke is especially useful when you want access to the Ginza Line or Marunouchi Line without starting from a large JR terminal. If you are staying in Akasaka, check whether Akasaka-mitsuke, Tokyo Akasaka Station, Tameike-sanno, or Nagatacho is best for your route before choosing exits or meeting points.
