What this station is useful for

Overview

Choose Takamatsu-Chikko Station when you need Kotoden trains from the waterfront side of central Takamatsu. It is close to Takamatsu Station, Takamatsu Port, Tamamo Park, and hotels around the Takamatsu Station Area, but it is not a JR stop. That distinction matters: Kotoden is the local private railway network for trips toward places such as Ritsurin Garden, Kotohira, Nagao, and Kawaramachi, while nearby Takamatsu Station handles JR services.

Its main advantage is the way it connects several central Takamatsu travel needs in a compact area. From here, travelers can move between Kotoden trains, the port-side waterfront, ferry plans, castle-side sightseeing, airport bus stops, and station-area hotels without starting from a more inland part of the city.

Lines and connections

The station is operated by Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad, commonly known as Kotoden. It is the city-side terminal for both the Kotoden Kotohira Line and the Nagao Line, with station numbers K00 and N00. Kotohira Line trains run toward Kotohira, while Nagao Line trains head east through the city.

For the Shido Line, change at Kawaramachi Station, Kotoden's transfer point for all three lines. Kawaramachi is also the key interchange for reaching the central shopping streets around Takamatsu-Kawaramachi.

Airport access

Takamatsu Airport is reached by limousine bus rather than rail. Official airport and Kotoden information list Takamatsu-Chikko, Takamatsu Station, and the ferry terminal among the central Takamatsu bus stops. That makes this area convenient before or after a flight if your hotel, ferry connection, or Kotoden trip is on the waterfront side of the city.

Station area

Takamatsu-Chikko is located between Kotoden's local rail network and the port-side area around JR Takamatsu. Nearby landmarks include Tamamo Park, Takamatsu Port, Sunport Takamatsu, waterfront hotels, and ferry services to the Setouchi islands.

For travelers staying near the waterfront, it works well as the Kotoden starting point for rides toward Ritsurin Garden, Kotohira, Nagao, or Kawaramachi. It is also a sensible choice when your day combines local rail travel with ferries, port-area sightseeing, or an airport bus.

Good to know

Use Takamatsu-Chikko for Kotoden services and nearby airport buses, not for JR trains. For the JR Yosan Line, Kotoku Line, Marine Liner services toward Okayama, and longer rail trips across Shikoku, use Takamatsu Station instead.
